I uninstalled everything and started clean. I did following in order to
get mysql working.
1. install mysql-server-core-5.1
2. install mysql-server-5.1
At this step installation did not complete successful. On looking at log
I figured out that /var/run/mysqld folder does not exist

I was able to install php5-mysql after I installed mysql-client-5.1. And
I am able to run mysql/PHP/Apache2 correctly on my setup.
