Yes, evolution-mapi only depends on libldb-samba4-0, not the full samba4, so
you should be able to run both.
Marking as invalid since OP says it's not a bug.

I think this is actually not a bug. I don't think all of samb4 is needed
for evolution-mapi - just libldb-samba4-0 which can be installed along
with samba. So I should be able to uninstall samba4 and just install
samba, smbfs, etc. so that "mount -t cifs" will work.
