I really would love to see this fixed in lucid. It is a real pain when
you're trying to debug an instance that has rebooted a couple times. I
lost a couple hours debugging one that I thought was locked during boot
because I only looked at the console output, while the instance was
actually fine.
This seems to be fixed in Maverick. Not quite sure when. \o/

Should this bug be reopened, since we reverted the patch? It seems
incorrect to leave it marked Fix Released as least, either Triaged or
Won't Fix seem better.

I verified the initial test case (with user data while loop on)
$ dpkg-query --show eucalyptus*

I think i have to take back my it worked statement. the first 'get-
console-output' worked fine.
The second has been running for 6 minutes, 30 seconds and has printed out the
following:

Something is definitely broken.
After the above eventually returned (17 minutes, a failed command and more
timeouts like above on the screen), I restarted eucalyptus and tried again
$ sudo restart eucalyptus
# wait
$ sh -c 'date; time euca-get-console-output i-431B08E0; date' 21 | tee
out.first
