I get the same result with the natty qemu-kvm version installed on
maverick.
However, with the current upstream version (from
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-server-edgers/+archive/server-edgers-qemu-kvm)
the mouse works just fine. I'll look through the delta to hopefully find the
patch

Fix has been verified locally and proposed for merge. It is at
bzr+ssh://bazaar.launchpad.net/~serge-hallyn/ubuntu/natty/qemu-kvm/fix-
mouse/. It's also building in ppa:serge-hallyn/virt.
