Thinking that perhaps I had done something to cause this, I re-installed Ubuntu
11.04.
After the install, I used the Sharing Options Feature in Nautilus to install
the Samba software and share some folders.
After logging out and back in, the problem persists:

Just replaced /etc/samba/smb.conf with /etc/samba/smb.conf.ucf-dist
This brings back the second instance in the workgroup and still has the same
error when I try to log in.
From Ubuntu, the workgroup has only one instance of this computer and I can
log into it as well. However, I still see the
Un-installing and re-installing Samba did nothing again. Windows still
sees two instances and can't log in to either one.
Ubuntu has no problem logging in.
Back to square one! ... Any ideas what might be causing this?
