Public bug reported: Whilst trying to confirm that euca does now startup on oneiric I came across this issue.
Upstart configuration eucalyptus-cloud polls http://hostname:8443/register to detect when eucalyptus has started. This fails silently for some time >= 5 mins. Manually running the command either remotely or locally has the same results - curl reveal a little more: jamespage@hendrix:~$ curl -v -k https://192.168.1.52:8443/register * About to connect() to 192.168.1.52 port 8443 (#0) * Trying 192.168.1.52... connected * Connected to 192.168.1.52 (192.168.1.52) port 8443 (#0) * successfully set certificate verify locations: * CAfile: none CApath: /etc/ssl/certs * SSLv3, TLS handshake, Client hello (1): * Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to 192.168.1.52:8443 * Closing connection #0 curl: (35) Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to 192.168.1.52:8443 I was eventually able to get a web browser open and perform the initial registration - but it took along time and I still see the error above.
