Gary, 12.04 has MySQL 5.5, which should have been pulled in due to its Breaks/Replaces relationship with mysql 5.1. Perhaps something went wrong during that upgrade? Anyway, 5.1 iis being removed from 12.04. Anyway, to reinstall mysql-server-5.1 cleanly so you can remove/upgrade it, you probably
