Confirming as several people have had the problem, though I haven't been
able to reproduce it. Per Sebastien Bacher, removing the patch for
CVE-2008-1105 fixes the problem. This is highly dependent on the client
and server interaction with certain files. This is upstream bug
Note once again, however, that the bug is not evident on a freshly
installed system.
We ought to be able to inspect the differences in /etc between working
and non-working systems to able to work out a solution for affected
systems without needing to reinstall Ubuntu...
