I deleted /etc/init.d/apache* because all of them were 0 bytes. Tried
removing and then installing again the following packages:

Just to clarify: This is a *change* in behaviour. Previously, PHP5 did
not depend on Apache. Now it does, and it potentially breaks servers
which use lighttpd instead of apache.
I already had PHP5 lighttpd installed, there were previously no
dependency

Because php5 depends on libapache2-mod-php5 or php5-cgi

mount.cifs does not handle
I have removed php5 metapackage and this allowed me to complete apt-get
dist-upgrade without installing apache and retaining the other php5-
packages.

Install/upgrade will fail. To recover, please try:
sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
sudo dpkg --configure -a
If you do the above you should be fine.

I think we will just have to wait it out, the usb driver provieds a perfect
monitor mode with injection but won't connect and the 2870 is the complete
opposite. Before reverting to jaunty I had them both installed and was
switching as needed but that soon became tiresome

Hi Chuck, I'm attaching the file you ask for.
As i say before i decided to remove samba in order to properly boot. So
to generate the attached file I proced to re-install samba, I could
check that the workaround is not working anymore, now is not posible to
boot with samba installed.
