We get it on all our 64bit machines using PHPUnit. We have about 500
test-cases, spread over 80 files. It seems to only happen after the
actual PHP-script has completed execution and with Jaunty we had about
3-4 segfaults on the 80 files, with Karmic it is down to 1-2 every time
we run the 80 test-
I hope it'll be fixed soon because many new Korean Ubuntu users face
this same problem at the beginning and give it up, thinking Linux is not
compatible. I remember before the dhclient adopted some years ago, the
dhcp client (I can't remember the name off head) did not have this
problem. IT JUST WO

Ditto, gvfs is Gnome-centric and this is an underlying system issue.
The network:/ and smb: protocol in KDEs Dolphin works well enough but
for instance, Amarok doesn't allow music collections to be used via
smb:/ but does handle Samba mounts via mount.cifs. fusesmb also doesn't
do much as it dies

The issue here is that you are not passing java options, but jsvc options.
jsvc accepts -X and -D options and passes them to the underlying JVM. It does
not recognize -enableassertions or -server (see man jsvc). It recognizes -ea

I can confirm that this patch has been applied to karmic, this look
likes a good candidate for an SRU. Ill bring it up in the server team
weekly meetings.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10
I opened dialog "Time and Date Settings" and switched Configuration from
"Manual" to "Keep synchronized...".
The system automatically installed the ntp package, this installation failed.

sorry by the late response but I sent all the information that I have
found... if you want I can redo the same process with the same hardware in
ubuntu 9.10 karmic and see if it happens again?

After re-bundling the official Karmic UEC image, it fails to boot:

but it is correctly allowed.
Bug is addressed in Lucid adding a deny rule for the 'w' action, which
silences the message while still enforcing readonly
