This was because I had deleted smb.conf to make some other product work.
The solution as suggested by aptitude was:
sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
sudo dpkg --configure -a
However this did moderately break my upgrade so I suggest that a more
robust way of dealing with

longer. From UDS I take that we do not fully support the separation of
cloud and cluster controller in UEC. This needs to be done by changing

I confirm the bug...the PID file is there, but no process at all using
ps -e
restarting samba says this start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill
1507: No such process (1507 is supposed to be nmbd)

Similar issues were observed but not with the euca tools. The de-registered
images does not get displayed on executing euca-describe-images command but the
similar changes are not reflected on eucalyptus UI. The status of de-registered

Not sure that's the only issue, but you need to copy ssh keys from the
CLC to the CC. The documentation indeed doesn't cover the CLC/CC
separation case. Setting bug as invalid, maybe reopen as a question if
you encounter further problems.

This is a serious regression; how come it was marked as fixed? I would
prefer to run the current LTS for my application, but if realpath
returns non-false on non-existent files then that's not possible. I
could wait for Lucid, I suppose; isn't 8.04.4 out soon?

When attempting to recompile the bind9 package with dlz-mysql=yes, it
fails to compile because there are some static requirements for
libdb-4.2. If I attempt to resolve this by installing libdb-4.2
libdb-4.2-dev, the latest version of libdb-4.7
This is in Karmic Koala with bind9-9.6.1.dfsg.P1-3, by the way.
