Scott, someone came in asking about this bug, so I figured I'd attach
the patch for the SRU.

Public bug reported:
The end of the slapd script reports an error if there 'was no'
configuration files in /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ by equating 'fail to read'
with 'does not exist'. However 'fail to read' could be due to permission
issues such as a regular user calling /etc/init.d/slapd.

Luckily, /dev is regenerated by udevadm trigger or a reboot.
Confirming this bug still present upgrading Jaunty = Karmic a couple days ago.
The presence of skip-bdb in my.cnf (and keeping existing config) prevented
mysql-server restart after upgrade, and made package upgrade fail.

mysql-server-5.1 5.1.30-2ubuntu3 fails to install/upgrade / doesn't
I just wanted to add what I know.
On a Celeron D 2.53, 650i, 4 GB, I did not have this issue, or at least I
didn't notice it.
When I switched over to AMD X2 4800+, 780G, 2 GB, I began to experience this
issue.
For what it's worth, if I reboot warm, the issue only occurs about half the
time.
I have the same problem !!!
lm sensor doesn't work !
I tried with grub with: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=acpi_enforce_resources=lax
But with sudo update-grub2 i had this:
/etc/default/grub: 9: acpi_enforce_resources=lax: not found

this is really nasty bug. I've spent hours after upgrading my server to Karmic
and finding that phpldapadmin is broken.
The solution in description works just well for me. Thanks a lot!

I can fix this problem.
Change /etc/default/ssh/ssh:
SSHD_OPTS=
to
SSHD_OPTS=-4
This lets the ssh-server use onlyq IPv4.
After chaning this setting, you should restart ssh-server:
# /etc/init.d/ssh restart

To solve this bug, install the program rlwrapp (for more information:
man rlwrap)
sudo apt-get install rlwrap
and add that before the mysql command, example:
rlwrap-a mysql -u root -p

This bug seems to have come back in jaunty. I have a server munin that
collects data from various client munin machines. This bug (nan for
/var/lock /var/run, etc.) started showing up on my 9.04 box running
munin-node.
/etc/munin/plugins# dpkg -l '*munin*'
Excellent. I did not see the (crash) behavior in Ubuntu 9.10 (which uses
3.4).
Thanks,
Eric Peterson

Yes, by default in samba, files created by the guest user are created
under the account specified in configuration under guest account, by
default user nobody. Creating them under the rights of the owner of

a default
