yes, obviously there is something different in the server metadata
output that makes the client parse it different. by definition of api
compatibility, that is a bug in the server. I agree that the parsed
eucalyptus data seems more sane, but thats not something that can be
changed.

Dustin, I am having trouble getting Walrus to start on a standalone
machine. Before I found this bug report, I wondered if it had something
to do with boot order. If this bug is fixed in the Eucalyptus version

1- sudo apt-get remove samba-common
2- cd /var/lib/dpkg/info
3- sudo rm -f samba-common
4- sudo dpkg --configure -a

Ok, after further research, it seems that ntp really is not working on my
system:
ntpdate returns no server suitable for synchronization found every time
regardless of what server I point it too, and ntpq -p does not have star next
to any server and reach, delay, offset, and jitter all show 0.
Never mind... Our firewall seems to block the ntp port. Synchronizing
with an internal server makes both ntp and ntddate work. Sorry for the
confusion.
