[Bug 787496] Re: tomcat6-user 6.0.24 with confluence deadlocks
Why should the LTS follow with non-latest stable tomcat? With the release of ga tomcat 7 it's safe to assume that tomcat6 has reached maintenance-only mode. The changelog from 6.0.28 to 6.0.32 is big, but changes are not breaking; some more enableable features, mostly conformance fixes or bugfixes preventing memory leaks. To keep looking forward to year 2015 (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS) and the java server applications; it might be good to expect that especially open source products will keep working with the tomcat6, specifically the latest stable, not an almost stable version. If the latest-maintenance-mode stable strategy is unacceptable, then providing the latest stable in backports should be? I do not think that maintaining a backport-branch starting from 6.0.24 should be considered at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787496 Title: tomcat6-user 6.0.24 with confluence deadlocks -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 787496] Re: tomcat6-user 6.0.24 with confluence deadlocks
Ubuntu's policy for Stable Release Updates is about fixing specific major issues or security vulnerabilities with a minimal patch to reduce the risk of regression on running machines, and QA the minimal change extensively. A known issue is better than an unknown regression Hmm ok; understood and agreed; so a bug like this should be filed for any known issues in the future and a backport request for others. My point came from the fact that tomcat6 is widely used as is and embedded in commericial products as well, but I'm not arguing any more as the StableReleaseUpdates lines the clear rules.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in advance! [This is an automated message. [Bug 787091] Re: Unable to use USB device in KVM quest
Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. dmesg has no more apparmor errors, so it is not likely the cause of the permission denial. But libvirt is supposed to change the ownership of the usb device so that libvirt can access it. So I'm not sure what is causing this. Could you append your /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf file, and /var/log/libvirt/qemu/VM.log where VM is the name of the libvirt vm and the result of 'ls -l /dev/bus/usb/001/004'. ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787091 Title: Unable to use USB device in KVM quest -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 786410] Re: package dhcp3-server 3.1.3-2ubuntu3.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug. According to the log file, the file /var/cache/debconf/config.dat was busy, presumably because another update was running in the background. [Bug 712392] Re: qemu-img convert blocks other tasks
I've tried again to reproduce this to no avail. Do you get different behavior if you do qemu-img convert -f raw -O raw /dev/yourvg/yourlv lv1.raw and if you do dd if=/dev/yourvg/yourlv of=lv2.raw ? If not, then the compression if you're using it, or simply memory pressure appears to be the cause, so beside ionice you may want to try to simply use 'nice' Also, please let us know if using a cgroup works for you (and, if not, please provide all the settings you used). ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/712392 Title: qemu-img convert blocks other tasks -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi Mike-- Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Does /etc/gshadow.lock exist? If so, does renaming/removing the *.lock file resolve the issue? This is probably similar to bug #432964. [Bug 774852] Re: Postfix 'local' crashes
Fascinating. The getrlimit kernel code should never return -EPERM, nor lead to any selinux or apparmor calls fwiw. I'd be curious to see an strace of local. If in fact a call to the kernel/sys.c:getrlimit() is returning -EPERM, then the arguments passed to do_prlimit are being corrupted along the way. More likely would seem to be a problem with glibc. We could try an instrumented kernel to find out more.
