[Bug 988690] [NEW] package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 3

2012-04-26 Thread thewinchester
Public bug reported:

Whilst performing an upgrade of packages (via System Administration
Update Manager), upgrade of the Samba package failed per the following
crash report.

Attempts to correct using apt-get install -f did not resolve.

All other systems and services working perfectly.

Reviewing the error messages generated by apt-get below, I am unable to
diagnose.

PID file /var/run/mediaserver.pid is definitely not found, and all
services by that name or other possible ones (twonkymedia) are confirmed
stopped and not running.

[Bug 988690] Re: package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 3

2012-04-26 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
application being used by the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-04-26 Thread kibe
Let me point out my non-technical, management-like point of view to
this:

For my company it would have been a discussable way to put Ubuntu LTS with paid
support to a row of our Desktops. But with this issue it is a complete nogo...
Rating this as a high issue isn't going far enough, for enterprises this is a
major blocker aka. showstopper.
I would have thought that this would be the utmost interest for Canonical,
'cause supportcontracts is what their business is build upon.

I'm not technically skilled to point to a solution for this and I
respect the licensing problem and that nobody wants multiple sets of
ldap client libraries. All I want to say is: There must be a solution to
this kind of issues to get enterprises to buy support for Ubuntu.

[Bug 959037] Re: Don't start local resolver if a DNS server is installed

2012-04-26 Thread Bert Voegele
Just as a short reminder, there are more DNS-resolver/server available as
packages out there than just bind and dnsmasq, i.e. djbdns and it's derivates.
Until I removed the annoying dns=dnsmasq line in /e/N/Nconf, NM disconnected
the WLAN after a couple of minutes, throwing an error about dnsmasq not able to
bind to 127.0.0.1.
I'm puzzled about the default inclusion of dnsmasq as a local resolver for
standard users. If a connection is to be shared, it might be useful to bind
dnsmasq to the shared iface to provide DHCP and DNS, like it's done with
libvirt-bin.

[Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager

2012-04-26 Thread TJ
I'm seeing a similar crash on a 12.04 32-bit server in similar
circumstances, however the error is different. Before I open a separate
bug report I thought I'd check with Marco if he sees the following
reports in /var/log/squid3/access.log.1 ?

11:12:24 | Reconfiguring Squid Cache (version 3.1.19)...
11:12:24 | FD 14 Closing HTTP Connection
11:12:24 | assertion failed: disk.cc377: fd = 0

+
+ The service can be successfully restarted manually but that is no

[Bug 986956] Re: document that lxc-execute with separate rootfs does not work with commands

2012-04-26 Thread B Clausius
The last comments make me think that lxc-execute works with application
containers. Does it work?

The simplest usage would be (without a created container test):
$ sudo lxc-execute -n test /bin/bash
But due to bug 981955 this does not work. With the workaround there:
$ sudo lxc-execute -n test /bin/bash -s lxc.rootfs=/ -s
lxc.aa_profile=unconfined
Now Daniel suggests not to specify lxc.rootfs?

What config makes the bash work with lxc-execute?
Or are interactive commands not intended to work with lxc-execute? The man-page
says it should.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-04-26 Thread Dominic Groß
I fully agree with kibe. While the whole licensing issues certainly lead
to a big mess, but this bug is an even bigger issue in any enterprise /
medium to large scale environment (at least those not using Kerberos).
There has to be a some viable solution. How do other Linux distributions
handle this? Do they all just ignore the licensing issues?

In any case the solution is not to leave this bug open for over two
years and ignore the numerous suggestions that have been made.
Especially now that the nscd workaround is broken in 12.04 LTS.

I would disagree-- see 'grep -r 'http://%s' ./*' in toplevel source (as
an example). 'http://' is hardcoded in several places.

Right, that being the case, that bug's priority needs to be raised. I will
get fixes proposed for SRU for that bug today.

What config makes the bash work with lxc-execute?

Just lxc.aa_profile = unconfined will work, once bug 981955 is fixed.

[Bug 988913] [NEW] libapache-mod-wsgi depends specifically on python 2.6, but also supports 2.7

2012-04-26 Thread FilipeCorreia
Public bug reported:

The package depends specifically on python 2.6 although it includes
support for python 2.7 too. I already have python 2.7 installed and
don't need 2.6, except for mod_wsgi.

I suggest this package requires either 2.6 or 2.7 to be installed,
instead of a specific version. If it can only be made to depend on a

[Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm

Hi Vencent,

The initial ramdisk includes modules, configuration files, and scripts needed

After looking through your information I am almost certain this is because
during

RE: [Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm

2012-04-26 Thread vincent
Hi David
As I test yesterday, there is no same behavior on Ubuntu 12.4(LTS).

I extract the initrd ramdisk of initrd.img-3.0.0-12-server(U11.10)
And initrd.img-3.2.0-20-generic(U12.04).There is no multipath.conf.
Compare the lvm.conf and modrprobe.d/blacklist.conf in ramdisk, there
is no any difference.

I have done the test many times and on two host separately.
The issue only affect partition 1 undoubtedly.

At least we know Ubuntu 12.4 has no problem now, so what's difference between
Them related to multipath-tools and lvm, code, configuration file etc?

Due to this is a bug, does Ubuntu will have a fix or patch on major release 11?

But, when I use the command cobbler system list the node was created.

[Bug 989355] Re: Unable to create Node: timed out

2012-04-26 Thread Julian Edwards
The problem is that cobbler took 10 seconds to restart dnsmasq:
Thu Apr 26 21:41:10 2012 - INFO | running: service dnsmasq restart
Thu Apr 26 21:41:20 2012 - INFO | received on stdout: * Restarting DNS
forwarder and DHCP server dnsmasq

But the MAAS server has a 7 second timeout waiting for pserv/cobbler
operations.

Does re-adding the node work quicker the second time?

[Bug 989355] Re: Unable to create Node: timed out

2012-04-26 Thread Daniel
Same behaviour occurs when I tried to re-adding the node.
How can I speed things up? The dnsmasq is working well by doing dhcp and
resolving names.

I'm stumped as to why it takes so long, I've never seen that before.
I'll get someone else to take a look at this.
