Hm now got this bug on a 12.04. Why is CIFS saying it doesn't find a
username, when in fact it doesn't find needed binaries? In my opinion,
the log output is wrong, so there is a bug there (although it is a minor
one).

Can someone at least tell me how I can debug this? There is absolutely
nothing in logs. nmbd just does not start even with start on (local-
filesystems) sometimes. smbd starts, nmbd doesn't.

I was able to configure shares using system-config-samba - that worked
fine (and I think is probably the correct way todo it).
It's not what is described in the french documentation of the new releases of
Ubuntu http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/samba and it's surprising !
