Any advice from upstream on how to deal with this? When will a version
of openvswitch be released which directly supports the 3.5 kernel module
naming? or we could carry a patch in Ubuntu in the interim if that

installed. This is a fresh install (installed first time with base
server install only, followed by apt-get install kvm, and then a
second fresh install choosing Virtual server host (or whatever the

Unfortunately I lost access to the box I had been using for testing and
I haven't been able to bring up a similar box to run the test on. To
make matters worse, I've now left the job that this was all for :(

Added bot-stop-nagging, AFAIK aufs and overlayfs are SAUCE changes to
the kernel, so it's pretty unlikely that any upstream kernel testing
would work. This really needs to be looked into by a kernel team member.

Thanks for reporting and helping Ubuntu better! As per the policies
surrounding stable release updates [1], at this point its not really
possible to release a new upstream version of OVS into 12.04. Best bet
