Following Debian as I don't think it's appropriate for Ubuntu to diverge
from Debian on this point. We'll follow whatever Debian does.

[Bug 1452601] [NEW] vivid container's networking.service fails on boot with signal=PIPE

2015-05-07 Thread Chris West
Public bug reported:

When starting a Vivid container, it fails to get an IP address. It
believes networking.service was successful, but actually it dies with
SIGPIPE. Restarting networking.service gets an IP, as expected.

Starting networking used to work with pre-vivid containers. I'm
reasonably sure this fails 100% of the time. Limited user container,
very standard setup (no unnecessary config; cgmanager and lxcfs
installed), btrfs filesystem but not btrfs-backed (as it's limited
user), ...

[Bug 1452629] [NEW] add autocompletion for screen -r for detached sessions

2015-05-07 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

Step to reproduce:

  * `screen sleep 1`
  * press kdbCtrl/kbd+kbda/kbd and kbdd/kbd to detach

[Bug 1441068] Re: lxc-destroy fails on btrfs subvolumes

2015-05-07 Thread Chris West
This also occurs for limited user containers, without asking for a btrfs
backing store. This is more of a problem as the limited user can't
delete (or even detect) the subvolume themselves.

On a standard whole-partition-as-btrfs system, as setup by the installer, this
looks like:

ID 258 gen 46021 top level 5 path @home

[Bug 1452451] Re: failed to change apparmor profile to lxc-container-default-with-nesting

2015-05-07 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi,

could you please show a simple script (doing lxc-create lxc-start
lxc-wait  lxc-attach) that I could reproduce with?

Just to be sure - you get this error running this by hand, right? If it
happens at boot time, then you should make sure that the 'lxc' init job
has completed before your job begins, since that is the one which will
load the apparmor profiles.

This patch (which hasn't gone anywhere near upstream yet)

Forces the libvirt driver in nova to avoid generating a cpuset and there
fore no longer generates the invalid domain XML.

Thinking about it again, an upstream fix for this is unlikely. slapd
changes users before it even starts loading its config, so there

** Description changed:

+
+ [Test Case]
+ sudo apt-get install trove-common
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal - just fixing up path for sqlite db
+
+ [Original bug report]
  Most of the packages are running dbsync during the installation of trove.
  When doing the dbsync the script will look at trove.conf for connection
(previously sql_connection), which is default to sqlite:///trove_test.sqlite.

  Here is the output when installing Trove on Ubuntu:
  http://paste.openstack.org/show/214767/

  If we change the default value in trove/common/cfg.py, it will not lead
  to any issue if we put the right path.

[Bug 1447294] Re: package nginx-full 1.6.2-5ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2015-05-07 Thread Thomas Ward
Francis,

This is a known issue. In the nginx community, we actually list the use
of any type of hostname, including localhost, a pitfall, as nginx might
not be able to resolve the hostname at a service restart or at boot
time. Below is the content of this documentation (which I had a hand in
writing) that details why using hostnames in upstream or listen
statements is bad:
(http://docs.ngx.cc/en/latest/topics/tutorials/config_pitfalls.html#using-a
-hostname-to-resolve-addresses)

Using a Hostname to Resolve Addresses

BAD:

upstream {
server http://someserver;
}

server {
listen myhostname:80;
# [...]
}

You should never use a hostname in a listen directive. While this may
work, it will come with a large number of issues. One such issue being
that the hostname may not resolve at boot time or during a service
restart. This can cause Nginx to be unable to bind to the desired TCP
socket which will prevent Nginx from starting at all.

A safer practice is to know the IP address that needs to be bound to and
use that address instead of the hostname. This prevents Nginx from
needing to look up the address and removes dependencies on external and
internal resolvers.

This same issue applies to upstream locations. While it may not always
be possible to avoid using a hostname in an upstream block, it is bad
practice and will require careful considerations to prevent issues.

GOOD:

upstream {
server http://10.48.41.12;
}

server {
listen 127.0.0.16:80;
# [...]
}

[Bug 1447294] Re: package nginx-full 1.6.2-5ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade due to configuration file using a 'hostname' to try and resolve an IP address (for upstream block)

2015-05-07 Thread Francis De Brabandere
Ok, strange that this problem suddenly appeared in 15.04 vivid

I might have hijacked this bug report as the original issue might be
unrelated?

[Bug 1452629] Re: add bash autocompletion for screen -r for detached sessions

2015-05-07 Thread Axel Beckert
Hi,

I assume you refer to autocompletion with bash as shell since e.g. zsh's
screen autocompletion already has that feature.

** Summary changed:

- add autocompletion for screen -r for detached sessions
+ add bash autocompletion for screen -r for detached sessions

[Bug 1432683] Re: apt-get install lxc doesn't load required apparmor profiles

2015-05-07 Thread Martin Pitt
This really doesn't belong into init-system-helpers. It was just right
in upstart, as it's only being used in upstart jobs. I don't want to
have a permanent delta just for this.

** Changed in: upstart (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Released = Triaged
