[Bug 235959] [NEW] smbclient -L gives NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

2008-05-30 Thread airween
Public bug reported:

After we have upgraded our system to 8.04, smbclient gives report as
above.

Here are the results:

# smbclient -L 192.168.117.2 -U myuser
Password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
# mount -t cifs -o username=myuser //192.168.117.2/data1 /mnt
Password:
[share has mounted]
# mount | grep mnt
//192.168.117.2/data1 on /mnt type cifs (rw,mand)

On remote system the samba authenticates the users from a Windows AD
(2003 SBS). If I try from another host (eg: Ubuntu 7.04), with same user
and same password, I can check the list of shares:

$ /usr/bin/smbclient -L 192.168.117.21 -U myuser
Password:
Domain=[MYDOMAIN] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.22]

Sharename   Type  Comment
-     ---
ADMIN$ IPC IPC Service (myserver server (Samba, Ubuntu))
IPC$IPC IPC Service (myserver server (Samba, Ubuntu))
...

The different between traffic of two hosts is when I came from 7.04, the
packets contains these:
ANSI Password: 1C468E...
Unicode Password: 002AF...

but when I came from 8.04, all of these two fields has '1F1F1F...'
value.

(I checked it with tcpdump).

Thank you:

a.

[Bug 236192] [NEW] Only ~2280 computers shown when there should be ~3759

2008-05-30 Thread Brad Johnson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

In Ubuntu 8.04 amd_64 when I go to Places:Network and then click on
Windows Network and then click on our domain/workgroup only the first
2280 (on second try 2288) computers are shown when there should be 3759.
No servers starting with letters past the letter L are shown.

This truncation happens when Viewed as Icons or when View as List,
but nautilus takes up alot or memory (~2.2GB) and is really slow (~2-3
min) to display the results in View as List.

[Bug 227464] Re: PHP 5.2.6 fixes important security bugs

2008-05-30 Thread DH
Hi, at our university they are shutting off network access to computers that
aren't running at least PHP 5.2.6 because of these security holes.
I am running Ubuntu Hardy server, is there a timeline for this update to be
released to Hardy, or else is there a backport available. I can always compile
php/apache/etc. myself like in them yon olden days, but I'd prefer not to.
Thank you
