[Bug 241448] Re: Playing from Samba SMB shared folder now is not possible (it could be done until last upgrade).

2008-06-24 Thread Deon Spengler
Hi all, thanks for the help.
I have installed the updates from hardy-proposed, problem still exists

Before update totem-gstreamer gave and error message but totem-xine did not
give a error message, it just did not work.
After update totem-gstreamer still gives same error message and totem-xine now
gives error message as well

How I access the files:

I use nautilus to browse to the shares on my network then I double click to
play the avi's
Files on the share are only avi which are either xvid or divx encoded

Client Side:

Totem 2.22.1 using xine backend
xine-lib version 1.1.11.1
libsmbclient 3.0.28a-lubuntu4.3

What works:

mplayer will play the files
vlc will play the files
totem will play the files if I go via .gvfs/sharename

What does not work:

using nautilus to browse to the share then double clicking on the file.
Using totem to open location smb://192.168.0.2/myshare/movie.avi

Server Side:

I have 2 servers
1.) Ubuntu 8.04
2.) Windows 2003 Standard Server

Error Massage when trying to play files

totem-xine error: There is no plugin to handle this movie.

Share on Windows 2003 Standard Server
totem-xine error: There is no input plugin to handle the location of this movie

Note everything works fine either with mplayer or vlc.

Can you provide log files
which log files would you like and where will I find them?

[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share

2008-06-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Bálint,

I'm fairly certain that the bug you're seeing is not the same as the bug
described in this report; I'm not sure it's even possible for Windows
2003 to be downgraded to lanman-only authentication. Perhaps your
problem is related to bug #207072 instead?

[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share

2008-06-24 Thread Bálint Magyar
Steve, I'm quite confused about which bug my experiences belong under,
as my original bug #215570 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug
twice. To be sure, Windows 2003 shares use NTLMv2 auth. Quite sure my
problems are unrelated to #207072 as browsing seems to work fine, but
not mounting or actually displaying contents of shares.

[Bug 241448] Re: Playing from Samba SMB shared folder now is not possible (it could be done until last upgrade).

2008-06-24 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I still cannot reproduce this as I can access the files with totem-
gstreamer via nautilus and location without errors. Deon, can you attach
your smb.conf file?

Deon, do you have any Dapper, Feisty or Gutsy clients that you can test.
If they also behave differently than before the update, then this is
probably the security update that caused the problem, otherwise it is
most likely the 4.1 -update.

I'll let Chuck specify the log files he is looking for.

[Bug 240387] Re: php5-ldap TLS (start_tls) quirks

2008-06-24 Thread Martin Adler
I have turned off authnz-ldap apache authentication for the specific
site and that seems to do the trick ... of course now all my pages are
out in the open but at least the scripts run with startTLS ... so it
seems to be a combination of starttls with apache authnz-ldap config and
the php script itself using starttls ...

[Bug 241448] Re: Playing from Samba SMB shared folder now is not possible (it could be done until last upgrade).

2008-06-24 Thread Deon Spengler
I have 3 ubuntu 8.04 systems.

first box) did new install and updates, tried to play some avi's from my
ubuntu 7.10 server and no joy. I thought at first it was a bad install.

second box) had ubuntu 8.04 on it already was playing files fine from
the windows 2003 server and the 7.10 server then it upgrade and it
stopped working

third box) at this stage I figured that some thing was going wrong with
the updates so I did 1 update at a time and restart after each update
then tested to see if I can play the file from the two servers that I
have. It stopped working after I upgraded to 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.2 and did
a restart

I have attached my smb.conf file from my client, I can send you my
smb.conf file from my ubuntu server but I dont see why that will be
import seeing that even when I connect to the windows box totem fails to
play.

what confuses me is that totem will work if I mount the share with
smbmount or if I browse the share via .gvfs

[Bug 219914] Re: mod_disk_cache enabled globally by default

2008-06-24 Thread James Troup
This is very simple to reproduce. Take a dapper box, enable mod proxy
and upgrade to hardy. The following code in the postinst will then
kick in.

| if [ $UPGRADE = from_2_0 ]; then
| # Module replacements from previous versions of apache2
| if mod_is_enabled proxy; then
| a2enmod proxy_http
| a2enmod disk_cache
| fi

It's completely unacceptable for disk caching to be unconditionally
enabled across all sites on upgrade just because I was using mod proxy
previously. Please fix this.

[Bug 219914] Re: mod_disk_cache enabled globally by default

2008-06-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Marking as critical for 8.04.1, since we don't have a good way to fix
this for users after they've upgraded from dapper and .1 will turn on
our LTS upgrades for all users.

Chuck, Kees nominated you to take care of this package today for hardy
SRU; please unassign yourself if you aren't going to be able to get to
this.

[Bug 219914] Re: mod_disk_cache enabled globally by default

2008-06-24 Thread Mathias Gug
According to the Debian bug, enabling the disk_cache module on upgrade
is the right thing to do. The proxy.load file in dapper loads
mod_disk_cache. Not enabling it on upgrade would break existing system
(as reported in the debian bug).

However, the apache2.2 package comes with disk caching enabled by
default as of 2.2.4-2:

  * Disk caching is now enabled by default if mod_disk_cache is enabled. If
you don't want to use disk caching, check that mod_disk_cache is disabled
(it was enabled automatically by previous versions when mod_proxy was
enabled). In this case, you might also want to remove any cache files from
/var/cache/apache2/mod_disk_cache .

To ensure that the disk cache does not grow indefinitely, htcacheclean is
now started when mod_disk_cache is enabled. The details can be configured
in /etc/default/apache2 .

This is done by using EnableCache disk / in disk_cache.conf (the same
applies to mem_cache.conf). Removing this directive would not enable
caching of / by default, but disk_cache would still be loaded if the
proxy module was enabled in dapper. That way existing configurations
using disk_cache won't break (mod_disk_cache is loaded), but existing
configuration not using disk_cache won't have caching turned on by
default.

[Bug 219914] Re: mod_disk_cache enabled globally by default

2008-06-24 Thread sf
This behavior is because in 2.0, proxy.load and proxy.conf contained the
LoadModule disk_cache_module and the mod_disk_cache config. Not
enabling mod_disk_cache on upgrades would break caching for proxies
(debian bug 407171).

Maybe enabling mod_disk_cache on upgrades only if something like

egrep -iq '^[[:space:]]*cacheenable' /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/* /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/*
/etc/apache2/conf.d/* /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

(in preinst) gives true would be better.

ok, I've unmarked bug #215570 as a duplicate, since the symptoms don't
fit either of these other two bugs and needs to be tracked down
separately.
