[Bug 253032] Re: likewise-open-gui needs a better menu item name

2008-07-30 Thread Thierry Carrez
Selecting Likewise currently brings up a window where :
- the window title is Likewise AD Settings.
- inside the window there is a large Active Directory Membership header

We should probably choose one of those. Personally I'd find Active
Directory Membership more in line with what is usually found in
Administration. However if we want (for whatever reason) to keep the
software name in the menu item name, then we should use Likewise AD
Settings.

[Bug 238878] Re: Change likewise-open default Domain separator

2008-07-30 Thread Thierry Carrez
\ is the default domain separator in the Windows world, so we might want
to keep it as the default separator.

At the moment the lwiauthd.conf file is basically rewritten by Likewise-Open
when you join the domain.
As a workaround you just change the winbind separator in lwiauthd.conf just
after domain join (before new domain users log in), then restart likewise-open.
it should work ok. Let me know it breaks somewhere else ?

[Bug 253268] [NEW] php5-cgi not working with suphp in Hardy

2008-07-30 Thread Lionel Dricot
Public bug reported:

Suphp doesn't work in Hardy. It seems that it is simply ignored and php
processes are executed under www-data.

It was working fine under Gutsy. I dist-upgraded a month ago but I
discovered the problem only recently (because one of my website was
unable to read a config file chmoded to 700). I'm pretty sure it's the
dist-upgrade because the suphp log stopped the day I dist-upgraded
(approximately at least).

I didn't change anything in the config in the meantime. Also, when
investigation the problem, I copied /etc/apache2 /etc/php5 and
/etc/suphp from a working Debian installation. It doesn't work under
Hardy.

The symptoms are the following :
1) if mod_php5 is enabled, processes run with www-data permissions. phpinfo()
returns Apache 2.0 Handler as the server API. (when suphp is working, it
returns Cgi/FastCgi AFAIK

2) if mod_php5 is not enabled, you will receive an error 500. The logs contain
the following lines :
[Wed Jul 30 14:31:55 2008] [error] [client 212.190.219.18] SecurityException in
Application.cpp:440: Handler not found in configuration
[Wed Jul 30 14:31:55 2008] [error] [client 212.190.219.18] Caused by
KeyNotFoundException in Configuration.cpp:234: Handler
application/x-httpd-php not found
[Wed Jul 30 14:31:55 2008] [error] [client 212.190.219.18] Premature end of
script headers: index.php

If both suphp and php5 are disabled, then your browser offers you to download
the file (which is normal).

Also, it has to be noted that suphp is well active because if you try to
access a software not in the defined root, you will get an error in the
logs. So, it seems like the problem is not suphp but the cgi part of
php5 which is not responding or something like that.

I'm not an expert so I'm not sure about the where to assign this issue.

I did.

Responses to your wiki page post...

I am not suggesting separate entries in a grub menu---I do not
understand where you got that idea. I'm happy to review your patches,
if you have code for an alternative approach.

The design is not yet final. The design I set forth emulates what I
did for yaboot, the PowerPC bootloader, several years ago. There have
been no complaints of the yaboot functionality, which is in use by a
number of commercial, enterprise PPC users.

To your points

a) SMART output is practically worthless, IMHO. I have used it
extensively, and it has completely failed to report a negative status
of known, bad drives, and it has marked drives as 'bad' that went on
to operate flawlessly for years. If users want to use smartmontools,
they can do that in userspace, but I do not recommend integrating such
an imprecise technology into the init/boot processes.

b) We already have a timer, set to 30 seconds, which waits for the
device containing the root filesystem to show up. Perhaps you want to
see a graphic representation of that timer. If so, that is a
reasonable wishlist item. Feel free to open a new bug against
initramfs-tools for that one. Patches welcome.

c) This is how initramfs-tools works already.

d) This is how my patches to Bug #120375 work, with the exception that
they they support only a single degraded RAID device for $ROOT. You
can open a new bug, with complete instructions on how to reproduce, a
more complex scenario involving multiple degraded RAID devices
required for booting.

[Bug 250847] [NEW] Apache predefined script in redhat-cluster-suite is not properly setup for Ubuntu

2008-07-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Ante Karamatić (ivoks):

Background:
I tried to setup the apache server using redhat-cluster-suite on three machines
running Hardy. The apache server can be started on any single machine without
any error, but not using the redhat-cluster-suite to start the apache service.

Symptom:
Once the apache service started from the redhat-cluster-suite, it will stated
as start for 5 seconds and tried to restart again.

The log message (/var/log/syslog) looks like the following:
Jul 22 10:26:20 c3 clurgmgrd[6529]: notice Service service:Apache2 started
Jul 22 10:26:24 c3 clurgmgrd: [6529]: err script:Web Services: status of

Jul 22 10:26:24 c3 clurgmgrd[6529]: notice status on script Web Services

Jul 22 10:26:24 c3 clurgmgrd[6529]: notice Stopping service service:Apache2

service:Apache2
Jul 22 10:26:24 c3 clurgmgrd[6529]: notice Service service:Apache2 started

What I have tried:
I looked at the /usr/share/cluster/apache.sh file and found 1 obvious error at
line 43 where it says:
declare APACHE_genConfig=$APACHE_conf_dir/httpd.conf
In Ubuntu, that file (httpd.conf) is empty. I changed that to apache2.conf, but
still have the same issue.

Also, in the same file at line 142 where it says:
for i in `$APACHE_parseConfig -D$OCF_RESKEY_name
$originalConfigFile | grep -E '(^Listen)|(^Port)' | grep -v ':'`; do
This refer to another file which will need some fixes too.

Hope this helps,

[Bug 250847] Re: Apache predefined script in redhat-cluster-suite is not properly setup for Ubuntu

2008-07-30 Thread Ante Karamatić
The thing is that there is no 'status' function in Ubuntu's apache init
script. Simply (and falsely) adding this to /etc/init.d/apache2:

status)
log_success_msg Running
log_end_msg 0
;;

would solve the issue. Of course, that's only proof of concept, not a
bug fix.

This problem (non-existing status function in init scripts) is tackled
by server team and community for intrepid. More info:

Real fix would be adding:

   status)

log_success_msg Apache is running (pid $PID).
exit 0
else
log_failure_msg Apache is not running.
exit 1
fi
;;

to /etc/init.d/apache2 before *).

This of course, doesn't mean that there's no bug in configuration parser
in rgmanager.

I want to bump this bug up, too. I've been searching for HOWTOs for the

(can't find the link in my history now) which showed a three-fold
increase in speed with Worker+FastCGI+PHP5. Folks seem to be discussing
the benefits, but retaining the solutions. I've not found any similar
solutions--they're all different, and I've not been able to get any of
them to work.

I followed this and got it to work:

However, my site is MUCH slower--14 seconds to load opposed to
approximately one second with Prefork/mod_php5.

Great! So we can consider the kernel part successfully verified.

What does surprise me a bit is the fact that if I klist, I can see my
TGT and, directly after mount, the host ticket from the fileserver.
After a while though, the latter disappears, even though I still have
the cifs share mounted and accessible. Maybe that has something to do
with Likewise; I'm more used to using pam_krb5, which does not purge
 tickets this soon.

I suspect that you're seeing a periodic TGT refresh from Likewise; pam_krb5
doesn't provide infrastructure to refresh tickets automatically for you, but
winbind/likewise do.

Apart from that, I can only mount the cifs share with sec=krb, not with
sec=krb5i. During debugging this, I found that cifs.spnego segfaults
horribly when started on it's own. As said, mounting seems to work
though. I'll try downloading the Intrepid samba source deb at home
tonight, maybe you guys have applied some patches on it?

I haven't gotten krb5i working yet here either.

[Bug 229252] Re: slapd gssapi failure - apparmor profile doesn't support kerberos gssapi

2008-07-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openldap - 2.4.10-3ubuntu1

---
openldap (2.4.10-3ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  [ Mathias Gug ]
  * Merge from debian unstable, remaining changes:
- debian/apparmor-profile: add AppArmor profile
- debian/slapd.postinst: Reload AA profile on configuration
- updated debian/slapd.README.Debian for note on AppArmor
- debian/control: Recommends apparmor = 2.1+1075-0ubuntu6
- debian/control: Conflicts with apparmor-profiles 2.1+1075-0ubuntu4
to make sure that if earlier version of apparmour-profiles gets
installed it won't overwrite our profile.
- Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
  speficication.
- follow ApparmorProfileMigration and force apparmor compalin mode on
  some upgrades (LP: #203529)
- debian/slapd.dirs: add etc/apparmor.d/force-complain
- debian/slapd.preinst: create symlink for force-complain on pre-feisty
upgrades, upgrades where apparmor-profiles profile is unchanged (ie
non-enforcing) and upgrades where apparmor profile does not exist.
- debian/slapd.postrm: remove symlink in force-complain/ on purge
- debian/patches/fix-ucred-libc due to changes how newer glibc handle
  the ucred struct now.
- debian/patches/fix-unique-overlay-assertion.patch:
Fix another assertion error in unique overlay (LP: #243337).
  Backport from head.
  * Dropped - implemented in Debian:
- debian/patches/fix-gnutls-key-strength.patch:
Fix slapd handling of ssf using gnutls. (LP: #244925).
- debian/control:
Add time as build dependency: needed by make test.
  * debian/control:
- Build-depend on libltdl7-dev rather then libltdl3-dev.
  * debian/patches/autogen.sh:
- Call libtoolize with the --install option to install config.{guess,sub}
files.

  [ Jamie Strandboge ]
  * adjust apparmor profile to allow gssapi (LP: #229252)
  * adjust apparmor profile to allow cnconfig (LP: #243525)

  [ Steve Langasek ]
  * New patch, CVE-2008-2952_BER-decoding-assertion, to fix a remote DoS
vulnerability in the BER decoder. Addresses CVE-2008-2952,
closes: #488710.
  * debian/slapd.scripts-common, debian/slapd.postinst: drop
update_path_argsfile_pidfile function, not needed for updates from etch
or newer.
  * Drop the code to check for and upgrade ldbm databases. The etch
release of slapd had already dropped support for them and direct
upgrades from sarge are not supported.

  [ Russ Allbery ]
  * Apply upstream patch to convert GnuTLS cipher strength from bytes to
bits, as expected by OpenLDAP. (Closes: #473796)
  * Add Build-Depends on time, used by the test suite and only a shell
built-in with bash. Thanks, Daniel Schepler. (Closes: #490754)
  * Refresh all patches, convert all patches to -p1, and remove extraneous
Index: lines. (Closes: #485263)
  * Unless DFSG_NONFREE is set, also check whether the upstream schemas
with RFC comments are included.
  * Update standards version to 3.8.0.
- Include debian/README.source pointing to the quilt README.source.
- Wrap Uploaders for readability.
  * Wrap slapd's Depends for readability.

  [ Updated debconf translations ]
  * Swedish, thanks to Martin Ågren [EMAIL PROTECTED].
Closes: #492748.

[Bug 234901] Re: Please apply upstream patch for dpkg-buildsource

2008-07-30 Thread Richard Laager
Given the last comment, shouldn't this be marked as a duplicate of
#225741, with that bug having tasks added for krb5, cupsys, and net-
snmp-config? (This also brings up the point that those libraries should
use pkg-config instead of their own -config application.)
