[Bug 219662] [NEW] Hardy - No network connectivity on fresh install
You have been subscribed to a public bug: It seems that on fresh installs (in this test-case context, a eeePC), a DHCP lease is not pulled. This is with a daily-build from yesterday. If a DHCP lease is managed to be pulled, DNS fails to resolve shortly thereafter. Will include output of lspci and lsmod when I am able to. Please advise to any additional info needed. ** Affects: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: connection hardy heron internet network networking -- Hardy - No network connectivity on fresh install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219662 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 287420] [NEW] likewise winbindd dumps core on startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: likewise-open This bug seems similar to a couple of others but the behaviour's not quite the same. The startup script appears to execute successfully during boot and there are no obvious errors from lwinet, but a core is dumped in /var/log/likewise-open/cores/winbindd and I cannot log on to our domain (Konsole displays a dialogue box which simply says Error, with no further details) until I do sudo /etc/init.d/likewise-open restart. [Bug 287126] Re: /var/lib/tomcat6/temp not writable by tomcat
Ack for inclusion in intrepid post-RC; please upload. BTW, shouldn't tomcat be using something other than /var/lib for a temp directory? This is an FHS violation, and is inconsistent with things like backup policies that try to avoid temp files. I am experiencing this too with Intrepid. I use wireless connections from a laptop. [Bug 287126] Re: /var/lib/tomcat6/temp not writable by tomcat
Steve: I replicated what was done on Tomcat 5.5 packages but I agree Tomcat should certainly use something more appropriate for $CATALINA_BASE/temp. Tomcat in general doesn't play well with FHS as it expects to find everything in a single directory. However, as is done for the $CATALINA_BASE/conf or $CATALINA_BASE/work files, we could certainly symlink /var/lib/tomcat6/temp to something more FHS-compliant. Will track that on bug 287452, as they are related. -- /var/lib/tomcat6/temp not writable by tomcat https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 287452] Re: /var/lib/tomcat6/temp directory could be cleaned up at each tomcat6 restart
Steve Langasek reminded me of the following: Shouldn't tomcat be using something other than /var/lib for a temp directory? This is an FHS violation, and is inconsistent with things like backup policies that try to avoid temp files. Rather than cleaning up a static directory at each restart, creating (safely) a /tmp/tomcat. and setting it as the jvm TMPDIR at each restart might be cleaner. -- /var/lib/tomcat6/temp directory could be cleaned up at each tomcat6 restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287452 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I'm lowering this bug from Critical to High, and un-milestoning it for Intrepid release. [Bug 227848] Re: boot order wrong for iscsi
Suggestion of text for the Intrepid release note (from Etienne Goyer): File systems hosted on iSCSI targets may not be mounted automatically at boot time, even if they have an entry in /etc/fstab, if a bridged or bonded Ethernet interface is required to reach the iSCSI target. As a work-around, you would have to restart the open-iscsi service and manually mount the file system in question after system boot, once the required network interface have been brought up. Systems equipped with a plain Ethernet interface are not affected. :-Dustin -- boot order wrong for iscsi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227848 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-iscsi in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
