Hi Mathias, I uninstalled everything and started clean. I did following in order to get mysql working. 1. install mysql-server-core-5.1 2. install mysql-server-5.1 At this step installation did not complete successful. On looking at log I figured out that /var/run/mysqld folder does not exist
