[Bug 398733] [NEW] Dovecot Plain auth broken in 1.1.1, fixed in 1.2.1
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have the following config, which under 1.1.1 will not authenticate users when the password is a {plain} format value. I know the config worked pre-jaunty as Ive just transferred the files after upgrade. Downloading and building 1.2.1 with no further config changes makes the problem go away. This is a regression. r...@wb289:/usr/local/src/dovecot-1.2.1# dovecot -n # 1.1.11: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic x86_64 Ubuntu 9.04 log_path: /var/log/dovecot-error.log log_timestamp: %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S protocols: pop3 pop3s ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/lib/dovecot/pop3-login mail_privileged_group: jiramboxuser mail_debug: yes mail_executable: /usr/lib/dovecot/pop3 mail_plugin_dir: /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/pop3 auth default: verbose: yes debug: yes debug_passwords: yes worker_max_count: 50 worker_max_request_count: 50 passdb: driver: passwd-file args: /etc/dovecot/auth/jira.myco.net/passwd userdb: driver: static args: uid=7000 gid=7000 mail=mbox:/var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n nice=10 userdb: driver: passwd ** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Dovecot Plain auth broken in 1.1.1, fixed in 1.2.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398733 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 398428] [NEW] folder sharing not working without reboot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On Ubuntu 9.04 (up to date) I did this: - create a folder in home dir - right click it and select Sharing Options - in the dialog enabled Share this folder - OK'ed the dialog saying to install sharing components, entered password - in a dialog telling me that a restart of session is needed, I clicked Restart Expected result: Being able to access the shared folder from other PC Actual result: When trying to open the shared folder on other PC (Windows XP Pro SP3) it pops up a dialog asking for username and password. I enter my username and password that I use on the linux box, but it just shows the same dialog again. The share (also new created ones) appears in the My Network Places, I just can not open it due to authentication failure. That was yesterday. Since then I shut down my Ubuntu box and todey I started it again. Now, sharing works as expected: I click the share on the Windows PC, it asks for user/pass, I enter it, and voila, I have access to shared files. It seems the mentioned restart button does not do its work properly. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- folder sharing not working without reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Blueprint server-karmic-update-motd-inotify] Enhance update-motd to use inotify
Blueprint changed by Dustin Kirkland: Definition Status: Approved = Obsolete Whiteboard changed to: = Status = update-motd should be integrated into pam_motd. A patch exists for this (see linked bug). As soon as this functionality is included in pam_motd, the entire update-motd package goes away. Sysadmins and packages should continue to install scripts into /etc /update-motd.d/ and these will be executed and displayed at login by pam_motd. :-Dustin - Discussion Points: * Need an inotify daemon in main ... which one? * update-motd could support both cron and inotify based notifications -- support this? * How should this work with byobu, which provides lots of notifications more frequently at the bottom of your screen? * Perhaps lengthier messages belong in /etc/motd? -- Dustin Kirkland With contribution from Jon Bernard, this feature has been mostly implemented in upstream update-motd. We need to do a few more, minor things to complete the feature. Mainly, we need an init script, or some other sticky mechanism for launching the inotify portion of the daemon. Scott James Remnant suggested that upstart could be used to do this. This blueprint suggests that we complete this functionality and use inotify for some update-motd events. Additionally, we should discuss the types of applications that perhaps should be hooked to add useful information in the /etc/motd. :-Dustin -- Enhance update-motd to use inotify https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/server-karmic-update-motd-inotify -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
