[Bug 408155] Re: package slapd 2.4.17-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 134

2009-08-03 Thread Andreas Olsson
Wondering if this might be an apparmor issue.

This is what apt/dpkg tells us...

  Setting up slapd (2.4.17-1ubuntu2) ...
Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.15-1.1ubuntu1...
done.
  Cached reload succeeded for /etc/apparmor.d/cache/usr.sbin.slapd.
  Starting OpenLDAP: slapdAborted
   - failed:
  FATAL: error reading `/proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled' in libgcrypt: Permission
denied
  invoke-rc.d: initscript slapd, action start failed.
  dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
   subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 134

While the kernel gives us this message

  [ 5710.013020] type=1503 audit(1249259467.734:13): operation=sysctl
requested_mask=::r denied_mask=::r fsuid=112
name=/proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled pid=6954 profile=/usr/sbin/slapd

In what way, if any, does your slapd configuration differ from what is
installed by default? Trying to see if I can reproduce this issue.

[Bug 408306] [NEW] Wireless not connecting to AP, no IP address assigned through DHCP

2009-08-03 Thread SilvaRizla
Public bug reported:

I'm on a fresh install of Karmic x64 with latest updates as of 02.08.09
using a Belkin N Wireless F56D8053 on rt2800usb drivers found here:
http://forums.remote-exploit.org/bt4...-wireless.html (current ralink
drivers don't compile on this kernel, and other modded versions don't
work)

The drivers seem to have installed correctly, I can put the card into
monitor mode without issue and can even inject packets. I can't however
connect to my AP which is open system, no encryption, nor any other AP.
I can see available wireless networks on both knetworkmanager and wicd.
I am currently using wicd and when I try to connect I get Obtaining IP
Address and then a short while later, Unable to obtain IP address.

Unconfirmed: the old fashioned way still works, though, once you stop
wicd/networkmanager and the wpa_supplicant daemon from running. i'm currently
doing it by manually running wpa_supplicant to associate then dhclient to get
an IP address. /etc/network/interfaces could be set up to do the same thing.

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29787634/buildlog_ubuntu-hardy-i386.php5_5.2.4-2ubuntu5.7_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz
Getting solved the patching problem is the easiest part.

The package won't compile with the current ./configure, so you'll need
to ./buildconf --force anyway. From that point you won't be able to
apply fpm patch to./configure.

I would say that the package should be build apart from current php5
with only security and fcgi specific patches.
The problem here is that on the official webpage, it is not documented
what exactly (from php5) fpm requires to run, I doubt it requires the
whole php to be reinstalled on the target system.

Please disregard this comment as I appear to have spoke too soon in
regards about the cgi-main.c. It turns out the real reason for such
compiler error was a bug in fpm patch of 5.2.6
(php-5.2.6-fpm-0.5.9.diff). No conflict found with either the suosin
or CVE security fix.

The bug - it was missing #ifdefs in 5.2.6 and got fixed on the 5.2.10
fpm patch. Therefore 5.2.10 is not affected and is more favourable
release candidate. Can we remove the jaunty-for-release nomination
tag? (and how to do that?)

[Bug 396632] Re: lighttpd init file should not chown or chmod on status check

2009-08-03 Thread Joseph Piché
I believe that is the offending code. Now that I think about it I should
have titled this bug differently. The issue I saw was
`/etc/init.d/lighttpd status` cannot be run as a non-root user. When I
looked into why it couldn't be run, I saw that quoted code. Plus,
shouldn't the user and group be pulled from a config file? Please let me
know if I am missing something. Thanks.

[Bug 407324] Re: /etc/init.d/freeradius stop don't work

2009-08-03 Thread Andreas Olsson
Sorry about being picky about the package version number. I just wanted
to be sure that there were no (other) issue preventing you from getting
the most recent package.

A fresh install of freeradius 2.1.0+dfsg-0ubuntu4, in which above
mentioned pid issue is fixed, will give you a
/etc/freeradius/radiusd.conf including these two lines

  run_dir = ${localstatedir}/run/freeradius
  pidfile = ${run_dir}/freeradius.pid

Is it possible that your /etc/freeradius/radiusd.conf instead till have
these old values

  run_dir = ${localstatedir}/run/radiusd
  pidfile = ${run_dir}/radiusd.pid

If so, do you have any memory of during an upgrade deciding to keep
parts of your old /etc/freeradius/radiusd.conf?

[Bug 299866] Re: Tomcat fails to shutdown (can't connect to port 8009)

2009-08-03 Thread Thierry Carrez
The issue is having Java code connecting to the local system on port
8009... For some reason it needs to resolve the local system name and
will fail to connect to 8009 on incomplete setups.

Your hosts file should contain (by default at Ubuntu install) a 127.0.1.1
hostname.fullyqualified.domain.name hostname line, for example if your system
is named test.mycompany.com you should have the following line:
127.0.1.1 test.mycompany.com test

That way the shutdown code Java can resolve your hostname and connect to
TCP/8009 to tell it to shutdown.
