[Bug 416264] [NEW] ssh -v reports debug1 - unspecified gss failure. minor code may provide more information

2009-08-20 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

When I try to connect to an ssh server (with ssh -v) I always have (my
system is an Ubuntu 8.04):

debug1: Next authentication method: gssapi-with-mic
debug1: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information
No credentials cache found
debug1: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information
No credentials cache found
debug1: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information
debug1: Next authentication method: publickey

The fact is that on many servers the establishment of ssh connection is very
slow because of this issue.

[Bug 416313] [NEW] On samba of ubuntu-arm, large file copy fails

2009-08-20 Thread Salil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

I am using ubuntu-arm on Sheevaplug platform - Jaunty-9.04 - A samba share is
exported, I can access it fine from windows copy/paste small sized files
easily. But when I try to copy a larger sized file, greater than 100 M or so,
the copy fails after a minute or so saying 'Network Name is no longer
available'. Now the copying is still going on in the background - because I can
see the size of the file increasing via console on the sheevaplug. I have fair
reason to believe that this might be the call to ftruncate() which is taking a
lot of time. So a way out might be to compile samba again with 'enable
large-file' support of something similar.
Right now it appears to be broken.

[Bug 416318] [NEW] Apache doesn't honor existing bootscripts

2009-08-20 Thread Frank Groeneveld
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apache2

On my desktop system I have installed apache for testing purposes.
However, I don't want it to start on boot, so I used update-rc.d to
remove the apache service. However, after upgrading apache, these files
are always installed again, meaning I have to update-rc.d also.

[Bug 415559] Re: Unable to open file /etc/freeradius/sql/mysql/dialup.conf: No such file or directory

2009-08-20 Thread Thierry Carrez
Works here on a new install of freeradius freeradius-mysql.

Maybe you have manually deleted /etc/freeradius/sql/mysql/dialup.conf at one
point, which would break further configuration. I'd advise to:
$ sudo apt-get purge freeradius freeradius-mysql freeradius-common
$ sudo apt-get install freeradius freeradius-mysql

Closing as invalid, please reopen if bug persists after the purge.

[Bug 412059] Re: MIR for vtun

2009-08-20 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I have not performed a code review, but am familiar with the software. I
am extremely uncomfortable promoting this to main as is because of the
'encryption' support.
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/linux_vpn.txt has a good
summary. IMO if this were to be considered for main, we should
completely disable/remove the 'encryption' support, as well as remove
references to it in the documentation. I realize it has legitimate use
cases for pure (ie unencrypted) tunneling, but if we upload it as is,
it's easy to imagine someone saying 'oh, hey, it has encryption. let's
use it!' This needs to be avoided.

A much better solution would be to have upstream use proper, modern
tunneling software like openvpn. It can use preshared keys (among other
things) to make initial setup easier (which will allow for security-
concsious users to adjust as needed) and upstream can 'upgrade' to
proper TLS down the road.

[Bug 394036] Re: MySQL 5.0.22 Crash on Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS (SELECT 0+0+0...)

2009-08-20 Thread Mathias Gug
What needs to be to move things forward on dapper is to figure out which
version of mysql has the fix.

1. Narrow down the range of versions to test by testing mysql packages from
every release (edgy, feisty, gutsy).
2. Figure out if mysql keeps an archive of all previous releases. If not, look
at the bzr branches - they may use tag for each release.
3. Use the bisection method to find out which release of mysql fixed the bug by
building a binary package for each release.
4. Go through the list of changes for that release and figure out which patch
has fixed the bugs.

[Bug 412059] Re: MIR for vtun

2009-08-20 Thread Kees Cook
I would agree with jdstrand -- this can't go into main. It is flawed by
design. A VPN without encryption means all the nodes between client and
server must be trusted (why not just route?). -1.

[Bug 397721] Re: [needs-packaging] php-fpm

2009-08-20 Thread dreamcat4
Hello,

I have now a TESTING package for ubuntu.

Instructions and guide available at:
http://dreamcat4.jottit.com/new_php5-fpm_testing_candidate

Checklist:
 - Operation with sqlite, mysql and pgsql databases
 - Check inter-operability with apache2 webserver
 - Look for and possible conflicts against existing php variants, or apache
installation.
(dpkg --contents php5-fpm.deb to list files)
 - Needs a short, concise man page. Anybody good at writing man pages?

Known Issue:
Php extensions aren't loaded by the php-fpm binary. This may prove to be
somewhat limiting in a production environment.

dreamc...@ubuntu910server:/usr/local/src/play/php-fpm$ sudo
/etc/init.d/php5-fpm start
Starting php_fpm Failed loading /usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/xcache.so:
/usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/xcache.so: undefined symbol: function_add_ref
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'/usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/pdo.so' - /usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/pdo.so:
undefined symbol: zend_objects_store_add_ref in Unknown on line 0
 done

I'm not exactly sure the reason for this. Its the fpm binary. Something
may be missing during the link stage. Hopefully the issue can be fixed
in the fpm source code, and someone can provide update. We'll have to
see.

Sources:

To get it to compile, certain modifications were necessary. The modified
sources were then converted into a patch file. I then followed the usual
ubuntu/debian php5 ways. The FPM changes shall need merging / approval
by andrei and Mike of php-fpm group.

Best regards,
dreamcat4
