[Bug 438565] [NEW] Eucalyptus Public IPs should be submitted in CIDR notation
Public bug reported: eucalyptus as of 1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu10 asks the user to submit public IP addresses for use in default MANAGED-NOVLAN mode. These must be entered as a space-separated list of unique IPs. Being able to use CIDR notation (192.168.0.128/25 for example) would allow more compact submission. ** Affects: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Triaged ** Tags: eucalyptus ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Tags added: eucalyptus -- Eucalyptus Public IPs should be submitted in CIDR notation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438565 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 438635] [NEW] eucalyptus-cloud needs a more reliable way to tell it's started
Public bug reported: As of 1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu10 eucalyptus uses upstart jobs to sequence the various things that need to happen when eucalyptus comes up. In particular, the -registration jobs wait until eucalyptus-cloud is started to start. The poststart logic in /etc/init/eucalyptus-cloud.conf was to wget on port 8443 before considering eucalyptus-cloud started. This resulted in some cases in failure to register, see bug 438602. A 5-second sleep was added as a quick workaround, but that shows that we need a reliable way of telling eucalyptus-cloud is ready to accept registration requests (without having them fail with ERROR: you need to be on the CLC host and the CLC needs to be running.). ** Affects: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Triaged ** Tags: eucalyptus ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Tags added: eucalyptus -- eucalyptus-cloud needs a more reliable way to tell it's started https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 438815] [NEW] libvirtd is leaking file descriptors to /var/log/libvirt/qemu/vmid.log
Public bug reported: It looks like the libvirtd daemon is leaking file descriptors to the logfile that it sets up for each VM. I've attached a typescript showing the symptom (start vm, inspect lsof, stop vm, inspect lsof, start vm, inspect lsof, stop vm, inspect lsof), note that the descriptors referring to the VM logfiles are never closed. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 438904 This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. Michael, can this still be worked around in update-manager? ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu Karmic) Milestone: ubuntu-9.10-beta = ubuntu-9.10 -- mysql-server has been kept back with dist-upgrading https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/413789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 438602] Re: Autoregistration of eucalyptus-cc sometimes fails
It seems that the eucalyptus-cc-registration job is not always started by upstart. To check that the jobs have been started, I've added a pre-start section to each -registration job (ex for the walrus-registration job): pre-start script touch /var/tmp/walrus-registration.started end script To enable upstart debug messages, I've added a line to the pre-script section of the eucalyptus job (since it's the first one to start the whole eucalyptus system): /sbin/initctl log-priority debug I've attached the syslog generated during boot. ** Attachment added: syslog http://launchpadlibrarian.net/32727857/syslog -- Autoregistration of eucalyptus-cc sometimes fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 54180] Re: [rfe] sshd ought to support 'none' cipher
I find it frustrating when those that don't understand the value of something patently reject it without research. FTP and other protocols make use of kerberos to authenticated securely then transmit the data in plaintext. This should be trivial to do in ssh, especially if using RSA/DSA key methods. I work in linux production datacenters and I know the value of this FEATURE for transferring bulk data over trusted networks or data that need not be secured. OpenSSh is flexible and easy way to perform network streams over my trusted network, but the encryption slows transfer and forces me to find other less secure, more difficult and redundant services to install and maintain. I don't think this should be default behavior but telling me that you reject out of hand that I am competent enough to make my own decisions about how I run services on my network is rather myopic. As far as you know is not far enough. -- [rfe] sshd ought to support 'none' cipher https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 54180] Re: [rfe] sshd ought to support 'none' cipher
fusiondog: Could I recommend that you consider doing something positive? If you are willing to work with upstream (that is, with the developers of openssh) to get this option included by default in their released source code, that would make getting it included into future releases of Ubuntu *much* more likely than simply venting your frustrations.

[Bug 437058] Re: Automated registration assumes that walrus, SC and CC are running on the same host as the CLC
So the first, most basic aspect of this problem is that these components assume that they should register as 'localhost', or the same system running the CLC. This assumption actually appears to be part of our problem with automatic registration. When I used the real, external IP address in the upstart scripts, I got the following in my logs: r...@cloud:/etc/init# tail -n1 /var/log/eucalyptus/*regist* == /var/log/eucalyptus/cc-registration.log == SUCCESS: new cluster 'canyonedge' on host '192.168.1.121' successfully registered. == /var/log/eucalyptus/sc-registration.log == SUCCESS: new SC for cluster 'canyonedge' on host '192.168.1.121' successfully registered. == /var/log/eucalyptus/walrus-registration.log == SUCCESS: new walrus on host '192.168.1.121' successfully registered. ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Dustin Kirkland (kirkland) ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = In Progress ** Summary changed: - Automated registration assumes that walrus, SC and CC are running on the same host as the CLC + Walrus, SC and CC registrations hardcode 'localhost' -- Walrus, SC and CC registrations hardcode 'localhost' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437058 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 437058] Re: Walrus, SC and CC registrations hardcode 'localhost'
I'm going to solve this by putting a sourceable script at /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-ipaddr.conf (like eucalyptus-cc.conf), where some variables can be set, such as: CC_IP_ADDR WALRUS_IP_ADDR SC_IP_ADDR CLOUD_IP_ADDR ADMIN_IP_ADDR For now, all of these are going to be the same thing (the external IP of the local system). But in the future, we can modify this script to use avahi and discover these services, or use debconf and allow the admin to manually configure them and set them in this file. :-Dustin ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Fix Committed -- Walrus, SC and CC registrations hardcode 'localhost' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437058 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
