[Bug 513151] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-01-28 Thread Mitch Towner
Hi Peroli,
Due to you having mysql-server5.0 installed, the log file does not contain
any information relevant to your problem. All of the information in that log
file relates to that working package, not the package that was causing your
problem.
As such, I am closing this bug report. If you wish to install the package that
was causing your problem attach a log file for that version of the package,
please feel free to re-open this bug report.
Thank you again for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please submit any future bugs you may find.

[Bug 513722] [NEW] Publication jobs should not start if authorized_keys is missing

2010-01-28 Thread Thierry Carrez
Public bug reported:

Splitted from bug 504326

On package installs, authorized_keys must be manually set on components.
There is no point in starting publication jobs if the the component is not
ready to be autoregistered.

Two options:
- Fail the publication job is authorized_keys is missing (requires the user to
manually start the publication job after keys are setup)
- Poll for authorized_keys presence in the upstart script (slightly heavier on
resource usage)

[Bug 504326] Re: Publication jobs don't start after package install

2010-01-28 Thread Thierry Carrez
Created bug 513722 to specifically track Publication jobs should not start if
authorized_keys is missing
This bug is about triggering the publication upstart jobs on package install.

I see why --noscripts is used on the other upstart scripts (they handle
their start themselves), but it doesn't seem warranted for the
*publication.upstart ones (which don't have a postinst).

[Bug 513727] [NEW] Samba 3.4 member server in domain fails to authenticate users

Windows Domain Controller, Ubuntu 9.10 as member server which has succesfully
joined the domain. A share with some domain users mapped to unix account with
username map does not work anymore with NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE.

Re: [Bug 512777] Re: first login fails when NIC is managed by NM-wicd

2010-01-28 Thread Roman
Hi

Static IPs: Some friends have the same config working on a static
network since some 2 years (Debian Etch IIRC). With karmic they report
it's working as long as they use wicd: but they are unable to use
NetworkManager (no logon servers). They are now planning to migrate all
the school within a 2 months deadline so it seems they feel happy. I
could get a syslog from them if needed.

DHCP: tried on another machine with samba package installed, so smbd and
nmbd appear on syslog too. I tried the four combinations of lines/no
lines about eth0 on /etc/network/interfaces and managed = false/true on
/etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf.

Two of them (managed = false) follow below. I guess this covers the two
usual scenarios. Behaviour is always the same in all four cases. No wicd
tests done.

It seems that, with any config, and even if everybody gets fired up just
in time, dhclient does not finish before samba daemons start. I hope you
can see the causes I'm unable to see.

After some googling, it seems that there is a NETWORKWAIT option on
RedHat that goes in /etc/network/interfaces equivalent, but I'm unable
to see any mention about it on .deb-based distros. I know this is a
samba bug report, but does anybody knows about it?

Funniest thing is, if you wait some 30 seconds after gdm appears on
screen, you can login at first attemp; if you don't wait, first login
fails (?) Second login attempt always work.

Syslog snippets follow, I could send corresponding samba logs with
loglevel = 3 if needed.

Best regards,
Roman

[Bug 391874] Re: “dynamic” application -level port forwarding non-functional

2010-01-28 Thread Colin Watson
I was a bit puzzled by this until I realised that our current wget
package doesn't actually support SOCKS, so this test could never work.
(Feel free to mark this bug as also affecting Ubuntu wget; it used to
support this, but I don't know what would be involved in reintroducing
it.)

With OpenSSH 5.3p1, this works for me using the directions in
http://www.metropipe.net/wiki/index.php/Mozilla_Firefox_Configuration#Manual_Firefox_SOCKS_Proxy_Configuration
(adjusted for the menu options being Edit-Preferences not
Tools-Options). Could you clarify whether wget was actually your
original requirement, or just a demonstration for the purposes of this
bug report?

Re: [Bug 512633] Re: CLC+Walrus+SC+CC installed even if node is preseeded

2010-01-28 Thread Mathias Gug
Hi Thierry,

On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 07:49:18AM -, Thierry Carrez wrote:
The NC additional preseed (downloaded from the CC) contains the CC host
eucalyptus public key, which is generated at CC host install time. So
your preseed would probably miss that.

I'd add a late_command that would automatically provide a well-known
public/private key for the eucalyptus user to all installations. Granted it's
not the safest thing to do, but for testing purposes it would help (this is
what I do in the puppet recipes).

Could you explain the use case for installing, with the UEC installer, a
NC in a cloud without CC ? You'd be better off doing a regular server
install and choose the cloud node task, if you want to bypass what
 eucalyptus-udeb does completely.

I'd rather fire off all systems to install what they're supposed to be and not
rely on having the systems to be installed in specific sequence:
  1. Install CLC
  2. Once CLC is installed, install CC+SC, install Walrus
  3. Once CC+SC is installed, install all NCs.

Automating the installation of multiple systems as a sequence is harder than
firing off all the systems at the same time and wait for the infrastructure to
settle (thanks to auto-registration).

The main usage of the option is to facilitate automated testing. There doesn't
even need to be a question asked. Having the possibility to preseed it is
enough.

 Public bug reported:

On package installs, authorized_keys must be manually set on components.
There is no point in starting publication jobs if the the component is not
 ready to be autoregistered.

 Two options:
 - Fail the publication job is authorized_keys is missing (requires the user
to manually start the publication job after keys are setup)
 - Poll for authorized_keys presence in the upstart script (slightly heavier
 on resource usage)

Another option:

 * fire off an upstart event when the authorized_keys file is installed on the
system (inotify?). The eucalytpus-nc job would also have to check for the
authorized_keys file and fire off the same upstart event to handle an
environment where authorized_keys has already been installed.

[Bug 513842] [NEW] block-device-mapping in metadata has 'ephemeral' not 'ephemeral0'

2010-01-28 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

ubu...@172:~$ python -c 'import boto.utils, pprint;
pprint.pprint(boto.utils.get_instance_metadata())'
{'ami-id': 'emi-C8F2149C',
 'ami-launch-index': '0',
 'ami-manifest-path':
 'ancestor-ami-ids': '',
 'block-device-mapping': {'emi': 'sda1',
  'ephemeral': 'sda2',
  'root': '/dev/sda1',
  'swap': 'sda3'},
snip

Above is from eucalyptus. Below is block-device-mapping from ec2:
 'block-device-mapping': {'ami': 'sda1',
  'ephemeral0': 'sda2',
  'root': '/dev/sda1',
  'swap': 'sda3'},

The difference to note here is 'ephemeral', not 'ephemeral0'. This is
easily reproduced with:

$ wget http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/block-device-mapping -q -O -
ami
ephemeral0
root

I have this problem as well: Ubuntu 9.10 and reading mount points from

while the host itself needs autofs. Tried moving autofs from S19 in the

bin), but that didn't help. I also tried Sebastian Veldhuisen his
suggestion, but that didn't work either.
