[Bug 581718] Re: dovecot upgrade purposely breaks working configuration
I don't set the home field manually. It's set by Mandriva Directory Server. I think that the error come from that mail and home are, on my config, un I find it very wrong to consider that as a user fault because : 1) it was working previously and al least one existing configuration (mine) was working fine with it. 2) there's no rule that say that it's bad to return maildir:. It's just lazyness from the programmer : consider it user fault instead of correcting it. 3) the software understand perfectly what the user want without any possible confusion and decides arbitrarly to give an error 4) the error message is not related to that issue. I understand perfectly how this bug can be considered as user fault, not a bug but IMHO just putting the head in the sand. Public bug reported: Fresh installation of a LUCID server (AMD64) has following major issue: X11Forwarding does not work anymore. Running the ssh-client (again from Lucid Desktop) like this ssh -v servername throws: ... debug1: Remote: No xauth program; cannot forward with spoofing. ... Running strings /usr/sbin/sshd |grep xauth on the remote server shows that sshd is looking for xauth in this path: /usr/bin/X11/xauth But this does NOT exist until the package x11-common is installed. Hint: Package xauth which is automatically installed by openssh-server has its binary in /usr/bin. [Bug 579868] Re: Unable to use Eucalyptus' iptables-preload feature with UEC
I know about ufw, the problem is that eucalyptus is not aware of ufw (at least from what I saw in the source code) and the cloud controller resets the iptables rules EVERY TIME it's restarted, not just on reboot. The only documented way to prevent it from clear your custom rules is to use the iptables-preload file I talked about. I know that the ideal solution would be that Eucalyptus use ufw, however I'm not sure that would be a trivial task so, until then, I just want to be able to use the official way to get it working instead of a hack I had to add so the file is copied there after each reboot. ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- Unable to use Eucalyptus' iptables-preload feature with UEC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/579868 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 557300] Re: tomcat6 package should fully support running as a different user
There are several solutions: 1/ Only set the permissions on original installation (do not modify on upgrades) 2/ Make installation/upgrades look into /etc/default/tomcat6 to get the user name 3/ Make installation/upgrades respect dpkg-statoverride (do not change permissions on upgrades if dpkg-statoverridden) 4/ Preseed the user you want tomcat6 to run under I think we want to keep the possibility to improve permissions on future upgrades, so solution (1) is not good. Solution (4) is technically the best, but it's a new feature so it's too much for a SRU. As far as a Lucid SRU is concerned, solution (2) or (3) are the smallest change (they are not exclusive, btw). Both are slightly inconvenient (one requires the /etc/default/tomcat6 file to be present before install (or not purged from a previous install), while the other requires to run a few dpkg-statoverride/user creation/ authbind configuration commands). But they would survive upgrades perfectly. Let me know if that would be acceptable. [Bug 582251] Re: debug1: Remote: No xauth program; cannot forward with spoofing.
The problem is that some people seem not to have a /usr/bin/X11 - . symlink, though it's present on my Lucid installation so I'm not quite clear on what's going on. In any case, Maverick's OpenSSH packaging now uses /usr/bin/xauth instead (see bug 8440). [Bug 582627] [NEW] slapd sometimes doesn't start in lucid; can't log in if using nss_ldap
Public bug reported: When I reboot my machine running lucid, slapd often doesn't start at all. Since my non-system users are all stored in the ldap database via nss_ldap etc., this means that I can't log in. Note: This problem is intermittent; it doesn't happen every time by any means. After upgrade to karmic and lucid, I was affected by various other upgrade bugs such as bug 571057, but I believe I've fixed the config files to solve the issues caused by those upgrades. I tried looking through /var/log/*, but I can't find any relevant log entries that would indicate why slapd didn't start (or perhaps it does start and crashes/exits quickly for some reason).
