[Bug 506865] Re: snmp-net not working with lm-sensors

2010-05-26 Thread Rob.D
This also affects me: Ubuntu Lucid (10.04), 2.6.32-22-generic
#33-Ubuntu SMP

~$ apt-cache show snmpd lm-sensors | grep '\(Package\)\|\(Version\)'
Package: snmpd
Version: 5.4.2.1~dfsg0ubuntu1-0ubuntu2
Package: lm-sensors
Version: 1:3.1.2-2

~$ sensors
smsc47b397-isa-0480
Adapter: ISA adapter
fan1: 2016 RPM
fan2: 0 RPM
fan3: 1226 RPM
fan4:993 RPM
temp1: +28.0°C
temp2: +21.0°C
temp3: +20.0°C
temp4:+0.0°C

~$ snmpwalk -v1 -c public localhost lmTempSensorsTable
***nothing***

What is interesting is that I do get one data set, just not all of it when I
try this:
~$ snmpwalk -v1 -c public localhost lmsensors
LM-SENSORS-MIB::lmFanSensorsIndex.1 = INTEGER: 0
LM-SENSORS-MIB::lmFanSensorsDevice.1 = STRING: fan1
LM-SENSORS-MIB::lmFanSensorsValue.1 = Gauge32: 2017

Previous release worked fine on the same hardware.

[Bug 578064] Re: php5 crashed with SIGSEGV in start_thread()

2010-05-26 Thread Thierry Carrez
So let me get this straight. The crash happens when you run, through
cron, the /usr/bin/php5 -f /var/www/extreme_staging/current/public/wp-
content/plugins/extreme-membership/cron/pmta_reports.php command, while
the /var/www/extreme_staging/current/public/wp-content/plugins/extreme-
membership/cron/pmta_reports.php file doesn't exist, is that right ?

When you say not always, how often do you reproduce the crash ? 99%, 50%, 10%
of the times ?
If you run the same command outside of cron, you get, I suspect, an error about
a non-existing file ?

[Bug 585784] [NEW] Instance losses associated address

2010-05-26 Thread Jesper Terkelsen
Public bug reported:

Problem

1 I start an instance with the image below, the instance is starting fine. The
instance gets a default public address.
2 I associate the instance with an address.

software.
4 After some time the associated address is removed from the instance, and the
instance gets its original public address.

Just before the address is lost from the instance, the following stack-
trace is shown in cloud-error.log - see attachment for full stacktrace

[Bug 67811] Re: Takes all CPU time

2010-05-26 Thread Neal H. Walfield
I'm using backuppc version 3.1.0-6ubuntu4 on Ubuntu 9.10.

I'm using fairly recent hardware (my backup server uses an Intel Atom
330 CPU, a 1.6 GHz dual-core CPU), yet, this effects me. Here's some of
the output of top during a backup:

  28539 backuppc 20 0 202m 141m 1368 R 98 4.0 5:26.85 BackupPC_dump

  25224 backuppc 20 0 49288 7632 2408 R 79 0.2 1:56.49 ssh

Both cores are nearly fully utilized. This remains relatively constant.

(On the machine being backed up, a 4 core 2.3 GHz AMD Athlon(tm) II X4
605e, sshd usings just 10%-15% of one of the cores.)

I'd suggest fixing this.

To minimize the amount that a backup interferes with other programs running on
a client, I changed RsyncClientPath to `nice -n 20 /usr/bin/rsync'.

Unfortunately, using the same trick for the server does not work:
changing SshPath to `nice -n 20 /usr/bin/ssh' results in:

Error: SshPath must be a valid executable path

(using /usr/bin/nice in space of nice doesn't work either.)

It should be relatively painless to prefix the commands that backuppc
exec's with a nice. Please do this. Thanks.

Both stop and reload use start-stop-daemon --stop --pidfile $PIDFILE
--exec $XNAME so they should work if $PIDFILE is successfully created

Did you change PIDFILE location, or run under a specific user ? In

[Bug 585830] [NEW] tab completion does not work

2010-05-26 Thread Ryan Parrish
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mtx

Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release:10.04

mtx:
  Installed: 1.3.12-2ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1.3.12-2ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1.3.12-2ubuntu2 0
500 http://localhost/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

This is related to #362951 where it was originally opened up under
bash-completion but upon reading the relevant debian bug (debbugs #522739)
sounds like it should be opened up under the mtx package.

I've just tested this on a new 10.04 system and found that the bug still
exists. Below is the output of me trying to do tab completion right
after typing /de. As in r...@admin1:~# mtx -f /detab

code
r...@admin1:~# mtx -f /decannot open SCSI device '/dev/changer' - No such file

[Bug 582887] Re: package snmpd 5.4.2.1~dfsg0ubuntu1-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade:

2010-05-26 Thread Kevin Sonney
This happened during a live upgrade - that is, with the GUI upgrade tool
included in 9. After rebooting into 10, I was able to successfully
upgrade the package.

Since snmpd was running at the time of upgrade, it was logged in as user
snmp. Does the upgrade script in this case check to see if the daemon is
running? The expectation being if it needs to delete and recreate the
snmp user, it should shut down any running snmp services before
executing changes.

[Bug 585026] Re: freshclam won't execute /etc/clamav/onupdateexecute.d scripts

2010-05-26 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for reporting this issue.

The default apparmor profile for the freshclam binary doesn't contain
rules for scripts added to the /etc/clamav/onupdateexecute.d directory
as we can't predict what those scripts will be doing.

You can fix this is one of three ways:

1- Modify the /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.freshclam profile to add
/bin/dash ixr, and other rules necessary for your script to run
properly. (recommended)

2- Modify the /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.freshclam profile to add
/bin/dash Uxr,, which will let scripts run unconfined. This is a
security compromise.

3- Disable the freshclam profile by doing sudo touch
/etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.freshclam. This disables apparmor
security for the freshclam tool. This is not recommended.

[Bug 585026] Re: freshclam won't execute /etc/clamav/onupdateexecute.d scripts

2010-05-26 Thread Scott Kitterman
In the long run, the solution is to have freshclam use a helper
application. The helper application would run unconfined but would only
run stuff that is in those directories, and the main freshclam binary
wouldn't be able to write to those directories.

For now, about all I can do is extend the README a bit. This is the
proposed text:

The freshclam utility is also protected by an enforcing profile. If you
want to add files to the /etc/clamav/onerrorexecute.d,
  /etc/clamav/onupdateexecute.d, or /etc/clamav/virusevent.d directories,
appropriate rules need to be added to the apparmor profile.

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AppArmor for information and
  documentation on modifying apparmor profiles.

Re: [Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2010-05-26 Thread Tim Utschig

Just my $0.02...

If you use an SSH agent, do yourself a favor and use OpenSSH's
own ssh-agent. I've found
seahorse/gnome-keyring-daemon/whatever very unreliable,
especially when I run dozens of parallel ssh commands (which all
use public key auth via the SSH agent). I give it a chance with
each new Ubuntu release, but each time it has failed me.

I always end up falling back to the following in ~/.bashrc:

  export SSH_AUTH_SOCK=$HOME/.ssh/.authsock

and the following alias for starting a new agent (once per boot):

  alias ssh-agent-init='bash -c '\''eval `ssh-agent -s`; ln
-sf $SSH_AUTH_SOCK $HOME/.ssh/.authsock; echo Agent authsock
$SSH_AUTH_SOCK; ssh-add /path/to/mykeys/id_[rd]sa'\'

I hear people also use the keychain package to achieve the
same, though I haven't looked at it.

[Bug 584428] Re: For Lucid server with Samba, console login times out

2010-05-26 Thread Carl Nobile
I have finally physically got to where the machine is and rebooted it
after making the changes to /etc/pam.d/common-auth. This has solved the
issues I originally posted here. It has not solved the portmap issues I
mentioned above which indeed seems to be a completely separate issue.

Daniel thanks for the help.

[Bug 585964] Re: Libvirtd -- error: monitor socket did not show up.: Connection refused

2010-05-26 Thread Hovanes Manucharyan
I was able to reproduce this issue again for the 3rd time on a clean
install. I believe that anybody can reproduce this with the following
steps:

STEP 1: Do a clean Ubuntu Server 10.04 installation. When I installed, I
selected OpenSSH server as the only additional installation package.

STEP 2: Install libvirt-bin package.

I installed it as such: apt-get install eucalyptus-nc

This downloaded libvirt-bin as a dependency.

After I installed Eucalyptus NC and configured the node properly I
verified that this node was able to execute my images properly.
Everything worked fine. As part of configuring Eucalyptus-NC, I also
created a bridge br0 to my eth0 dev.

STEP 3: Edit /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf

Config change:

security_driver = none

I restarted libvirt-bin and verified again that everything was working
fine.

This step may have a benign effect or it may act in combination with
STEP 4 to cause the issue.

STEP 4: Purge apparmor package reboot

r...@srv-uec-qa-node01:~# apt-get purge apparmor
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  apparmor* apparmor-utils*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 9 not upgraded.
After this operation, 4,067kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y

dpkg: warning: while removing apparmor, directory '/etc/apparmor.d/cache' not
empty so not removed.
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Processing triggers for ureadahead ...
ureadahead will be reprofiled on next reboot

Then I reboot.

=

After STEP4 my problem is reproduced. I get the following error when I
try to run vm instances using libvirtd:

r...@srv-uec-qa-node01:/var/lib/eucalyptus/instances/admin/i-5AF109A2# virsh
start i-5AF109A2
error: Failed to start domain i-5AF109A2
error: monitor socket did not show up.: Connection refused

Thus, the problem is either STEP4 by itself or combination of STEP 3 + STEP 4.

--

Even if I don't purge apparmor but disable it with a kernel param
(apparmor=0), the problem repeats itself, suggesting libvirtd relies on
the presence of apparmor in order to function properly.

--

I haven't had 100% success fixing libvirt after this.

In one case, reinstalling apparmor seemed to make libvirtd work again.

However, in another case I wasn't successful. On this system I had
disabled apparmor using a kernel boot param. Additionally, this system
was in a broken state for several days and may have seen other changes
beside the boot param. I undid my modifications to the kernel boot
parameters, rebooted, reinstalled apparmor, but the problem persisted.

[Bug 586134] [NEW] SC: Maximum number of loop devices should be configurable

2010-05-26 Thread C de-Avillez
Public bug reported:

Eucalyptus versions:

ii eucalyptus-common 1.6.2-0ubuntu30.1
ii eucalyptus-java-common1.6.2-0ubuntu30.1
ii eucalyptus-sc 1.6.2-0ubuntu30.1

Bug 430846 and bug 498174 partially dealt with this issue. But, on an SC
(perhaps also on the Walrus?) currently you cannot create more than 32
volumes -- trying to create the 33rdvolume will fail with the SC
reporting:

ERROR [BlockStorage:pool-10-thread-5]
com.eucalyptus.util.EucalyptusCloudException: Could not create loopback
device for //var/lib/ eucalyptus/volumes/vol-x. Please check the
max loop value and permissions

This, of course, is an artificial restriction: Consider a SC with a few
terabytes of disc space, and consider euca-create-volumes usually
running with a few tens of giga for the allocation (-s)... the system
very fast reaches saturation, and real disc utilisation is still
(probably) in the few units of percent.

So, either this should be set in /etc/eucalyptus/eucaliptus.*conf, or
eucalyptus should dynamically create the needed /dev/loppxxx.

*Notes*:
(1) setting this on the upstart script would allow for an initial setup, but
would require the SC to be restarted for the new value to take effect, which
will probably cause a temporary interruption of volume service.
(2) I wonder how the system would behave on a reboot...
