2010-11-13 Thread DigiAngel
I'm in the same boat after upgrading to 10.10..I get emails stating:

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library

mhash.so doesn't exist.

[Bug 104525] Re: default ntp.conf should use pool.ntp.org servers

2010-11-13 Thread Xavier Robin
I fully agree with comment 6 by Perry E. Metzger. Switching to ntp pool
should not be a security issue as bad servers are automatically filtered
from the pool. Additionally, bad servers are detected by the NTP
algorithm if enough servers are selected (they are called
falsetickers, see
http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Support/SelectingOffsiteNTPServers#Section_5.3.3.).
4 servers should be enough for most cases.

ok! it works!
Back to Ubuntu.

By the way Tom, when you're saying (...)installing them will prevent

anyway, thanks! I *really* need to print a lot!

To push it a bit I requested a vendor zone in the pool. I should get an
answer within 3 days and will let you know.

I hope it will help this bug forward.

[Bug 674943] [NEW] autofs5 attempts bind mounts with nfs4, but can't perform them correctly

2010-11-13 Thread Matt Mossholder
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs5

Description:Ubuntu 10.10
autofs: Installed: 5.0.5-0ubuntu21

When using autofs5 to mount a directory exported as nfs4 from localhost,
autofs5 attempts to perform a --bind mount, like it would with nfs2 or
nfs3. This does not work with nfs4, as nfs4 exports from its own root.

For example, I have autofs setup to serve out home directories, all of
which are located in /export/home/$user . The fsid=0 directory is
/export . This means that in the auto.home, the path to the user's
directory is listed as /home/$user.

Given this, there is not enough information in the auto.home for autofs
to do a --bind mount for the local directory, and as such, an nfs4 mount
should be performed instead.

** Affects: autofs5 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

@Jeffrey: please do not assign bug to yourself, when you're not planning

The workaround is to remove the mhash.ini file:
rm /etc/php5/conf.d/mhash.ini (not verified)

[Bug 442498] Re: openldap install bare bones need default DIT separate package

This is great news to finally get OpenLdap back working smoothly in

fearing to break everything with an update. Any chance to get it soon on
Maverick through maverick-backports?

[Bug 675052] [NEW] Upgrade from hardy (8.04) to lucid (10.04) sets bad permissions on olcDatabase={-1}frontend, cn=config

2010-11-13 Thread AlainKnaff
Public bug reported:

When upgrading from hardy to lucid, the following permissions are set on
the frontend :

# {-1}frontend, config
dn: olcDatabase={-1}frontend,cn=config
olcAccess: {0}to * by dn.exact=gidNumber=0+uidNumber=0,cn=peercred,cn=external
 ,cn=auth manage by * break

instead of:

dn: olcDatabase={-1}frontend,cn=config
olcAccess: {0}to * by
dn.exact=dn.exact=gidNumber=0+uidNumber=0,cn=peercred,cn=external manage by *
break
olcAccess: {1}to dn.base= by * read
olcAccess: {2}to dn.base=cn=subschema by * read

The result of this is that the rootDse cannot be loaded by the anon user
(testable using ldapsearch -x -b -s base +), which prevents SASL binds
with Unix user from working (ldapsearch -U user )
