[Bug 427612] Re: kvm sends caps lock key up event twice

2010-11-19 Thread Benjamin Drung
You mean press caps lock with capslock turning on and release caps
lock with capslock turning off?

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: qemu-kvm

I have set the keyboard layout to German NEO 2 [1] in the host and the
client (both current karmic). The caps lock is used as modifier (similar
to shift) in NEO. When I press caps lock + t, then the client prints
- a t instead of a -. It seems that the pressed caps lock is not
- passed to the client.
+ a t instead of a -. A caps lock key up event is sent to the client
+ before I release the caps lock key.

[Bug 503467] Re: vmbuilder default account not well-documented

2010-11-19 Thread Nils Toedtmann
I ran into the same issue and only was lucky because i disable password
based ssh login on my machines.

This is a security issue, not wishlist, please change importance.
Insecure defaults must be changed or at least very prominently warned
about. Mentioning this behavior in the help page is not enough.

One should ssh scan the cloud for this account ;-)

[Bug 638145] [NEW] metadata service returns 500 error on Lucid

2010-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Having very similar symptom as bug 637659. In this case, however, I
have two clusters in different locations connected over openvpn. I am
using the latest UEC image release (release-20100827).

It starts and runs fine on cluster1 (which is in the same location as
the CLC). I can connect via ssh on cluster1.

But fails on cluster2 (which has two servers: one is a CC-SC connected
via openvpn to the CLC, and an NC, which is not running openvpn, but
uses the CC as its default route out so it can talk to Walrus over the
tunnel).

The instance does start up on cluster2. Using euca-get-console-output
it eventually hangs up with:

[Bug 676830] Re: pid_file in munin-node.conf is ignored.

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Jon, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help us
make Ubuntu better!

It would appear this bug was fixed upstream in v1.4.6, which has not
been released yet.

http://munin-monitoring.org/ticket/975

We can go ahead and backport the patch, which is relatively small, from
here:

http://munin-monitoring.org/changeset/3929

Marking as Triaged, as its already clear how to resolve the issue and
has already been reported upstream.

Setting Importance to Low, as most people will not want to run multiple
munin-nodes, and upstart makes it unnecessary to use the pid file for
daemon management.

Nominating for Lucid as well.

[Bug 676833] Re: snmp__* plugins don't like host names.

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Jon, thanks again for filing these bug reports and working with us to
make Ubuntu better!

I just tried setting up a fresh lucid VM, installing snmpd and munin-
node, and running this:

sudo sh -c 'munin-node-configure --snmp localhost --shell | sh'

This configured 5 plugins

/etc/munin/plugins/snmp_localhost_*

With * being netstat, rdp_users, swap, uptime, winload

then

sudo service munin-node restart

Then when I netcat into localhost port 4949 I get

#munin node at ubuntu.defaultdomain
list
cpu df df_inode entropy forks fw_packets if_err_eth0 if_eth0 interrupts iostat
iostat_ios irqstats load memory open_files open_inodes proc_pri processes
snmp_localhost_netstat snmp_localhost_uptime snmp_localhost_winload swap
threads uptime users vmstat

So some but not all showed up (I suspect munin-node-configure is a
little bit confused and snmp_localhost_rdp_users isn't working.. ;)

Anyway, can you provide a clear set of steps to repeat the problem that
maybe differ from the ones I've laid out above?

Thanks!

[Bug 677231] Re: Can't purge mysql-server

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Gantry, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and work
with us to make Ubuntu better!

I know this is confusing, but you actually need to purge the underlying
packages as well:

aptitude purge mysql-server-5.1

When you run this, it should ask you for confirmation before removing
all databases.

You can find all packages that are removed but not purged with

dpkg -l |grep '^rc'

You should see something in there like

rc mysql-server-5.1 5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1
MySQL database server binaries and system database setup

Please purge that package, and if the files are still there, feel free to
re-open this bug report with more information.

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello turrailes, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report
and help us make Ubuntu better!

The error messages indicating the failures in stopping mysqld seem
somewhat inconsistent and confusing.

The first one, while trying to upgrade from 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 to
5.1.41-3ubuntu12.6 is here:

S'està preparant per a reemplaçar mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3

el subprocés seqüència pre-installation nova retornà el codi d'eixida d'error 1

I think this may happen because of an unfortunate race condition in
/lib/init/upstart-job that checks status, and if it has a pid, tries to
stop it, but it may die (for some other reason, such a it was already in
a stopping state) between this check. So, in this way, it should be
possible to repeat the upgrade attempt and have it not fail every time.

S'està preparant per a reemplaçar mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 (fent

This actually supports the same theory, as I believe the 'kill timeout
300' was not present in 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3, so upstart would kill mysqld
after 5 seconds.. which would explain the 'Terminated' error.

Can you try stopping mysql before doing your install/upgrades?

stop mysql

should do it. Please report back on the results of trying that, as I
think this is probably reproducible if mysqld takes a long time to stop.

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Adnan, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better!

It looks like the upgrade process is failing because it cannot stop
mysql properly.

Preparing to replace mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-1ubuntu5.1 (using
.../mysql-server-5.1_5.1.37-1ubuntu5.5_i386.deb) ...

/var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.1_5.1.37-1ubuntu5.5_i386.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

I believe this is related to the fact that the prerm scripts generated
by debhelper in karmic would fail if the service was already stopped.

Can you try making sure mysql is started before doing the update?

If that works, then I think its a legitimate bug that it would fail on trying
to stop mysql, when mysql is already stopped, and may have already been
fixed/reported for debhelper.

[Bug 677535] Re: package dhcp3-server (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: cannot access archive: No such file or directory

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Jonners59, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better.

I believe that there is just another package manager running. This error
message indicates as much:

Setting up tzdata (2010o-0ubuntu0.10.04) ...
debconf: DbDriver config: /var/cache/debconf/config.dat is locked by another
process: Resource temporarily unavailable
dpkg: error processing tzdata (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 tzdata

You may want to try rebooting and then re-running update manager, or if
that is not possible, you can try to determine what process has the
config database locked by running this in a terminal:

sudo fuser -v /var/cache/debconf/config.dat

And then kill the process that has the database open.

Closing bug report as Invalid.

   Status: New = Invalid

[Bug 677019] Re: package backuppc 3.1.0-9ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-11-19 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Kipton, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help
us make Ubuntu better!

This error message, from DpkgTerminalLog.txt, explains the problem quite
well:

 * Starting backuppc...
2010-11-18 08:26:17 Can't create a test hardlink between a file in
/var/lib/backuppc/pc and /var/lib/backuppc/cpool. Either these are different
file systems, or this file system doesn't support hardlinks, or these
directories don't exist, or there is a permissions problem, or the file system
is out of inodes or full. Use df, df -i, and ls -ld to check each of these
possibilities. Quitting...

While your home partition does seem almost full (91%), /, which houses
/var/lib, looks relatively empty.

Can you please post the results of these commands run in a Terminal:

df -i
ls -ld /var/lib/backuppc
ls -l /var/lib/backuppc
mount

Marking Incomplete pending response from Kipton.

[Bug 676672] Re: FTBFS on natty: SASL LDAP check fails (and other DSO problems)

2010-11-19 Thread Matthias Klose
the patch may be wrong.

the original problem is:

configure:56654: checking for sasl_version in -lldap
configure:56679: powerpc64-linux-gnu-gcc -o conftest -I/usr/include -g -O2 -O2
-Wall -fsigned-char -fno-strict-aliasing -g -fvisibility=hidden
-I/usr/include -L/usr/lib -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions -lldap -llber -lsasl2
conftest.c -lldap -lssl -ldb -lbz2 -lz -lpcre -lssl -lm -ldl -lnsl -lxml2
-lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5 -lk5crypto -lcom_err -lxml2 -lldap -llber 5
/tmp/ccN9qAWO.o: In function `main':
/home/doko/packages/php5-5.3.3/apache2-build/conftest.c:332: undefined
reference to `sasl_version'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

here -lldap -llber -lsasl2 are added *before* the object. There seems
to be something wrong with the configure macro(s).
