[Bug 784993] Re: kvm Guest freeze on boot (guest on own disk, no qemu-image)

2011-05-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

In order to help us reproduce the problem, please tell us precisely how
you create the backing file and the full kvm command line which causes
the error.

Also, to give us some log info, please run kvm in the way which fails,
then run 'apport-collect 784993'.

2011-05-19 Thread James Page
Hi Wilbert

I've seen similar issues to this when mysql-server is not installed
prior to installing bacula (infact I can see this issue earlier in the
dpkg terminal log)

Are you trying to install postgresql on the same server as bacula? If
so please can you try installing postgresql first and then attempt to
re-install bacula.

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The error message reported in the log file is normally transient; Please
try performing the update again.

If the same issue occurs, please try to identify which process is
locking the file by running:

   sudo fuser -v /var/cache/debconf/config.dat

If this returns a result you could try killing the process and
completing the update again.

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

[Bug 590537] Re: lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions keeps showing up in the system log

2011-05-19 Thread Paolo Pelloni
It happens here on a server 10.04.02 64bit every 300.?? ticks or

Kernel is: 2.6.32-31-server #61-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 8 19:44:42

I have stopped vsftpd and the log entries stopped too.
I have restarted vsftpd and they came back but not just after the start ... few
minutes after. Exactly at the same time when the nagios daemon checked the FTP

Hi Pablo

It looks like the upgrade had trouble merging a new version of smb.conf.

Please could you attach the following files to this big report:

  /etc/samba/smb.conf.ucf-new
  /etc/samba/smb.conf

This will allow us to see what failed during the upgrade.

You should review the results of the failed merge and update
/etc/samba/smb.conf to resolve the configuration issue. After you have
done this please run the following command:

   sudo apt-get -f install

Hopefully this should resolve your issue.

Thanks

Hi Ron

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This is normally a transient situation; running the upgrade again should
resolve the issue.

If is does not work you could try locating the process locking the file
by running:

  sudo fuser -v /var/cache/debconf/config.dat

Killing the process and re-running the upgrade should then resolve the
issue.

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The error from the logs normally indicates a transient situation; under
normal circumstances performing the upgrade again would resolve the
issue. However as this happened during a release upgrade, its possible
that this issue has already resolved itself.

Please try running the following command:

  sudo apt-get -f install

This should complete and failed configuration steps that happened during
the upgrade; if this resolves your issue please update this bug report.

Thanks

[Bug 782192] Re: package postfix 2.7.0-1ubuntu0.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75

2011-05-19 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like you have a problem with the configuration file for postfix
(/etc/postfix/main.cf):

postconf: fatal: /etc/postfix/main.cf, line 47: missing '=' after
attribute name: D

Please can you edit this file and fix the issue (it looks like an errant
character - maybe a typo?)

You can then run:

   sudo apt-get -f install

Which should complete any outstanding update tasks.

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like /etc/init.d/nmbd has been removed on your system. This
can be recreated by running the following command in a terminal:

  sudo ln -s /lib/init/upstart-job /etc/init.d/nmbd

You can then complete the update by running the following command:

  sudo apt-get -f install

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

[Bug 782092] Re: ssh server extremly unresponsive

2011-05-19 Thread Martin Konopka
Clint, I can now answer your questions, at least partially.

* If I renice the program, the effect is likely gone. However, I will be
sure only after a longer period of testing.

* Other programs run swiftly (also without renice-ing prog.x).

I will comment on this issue sometime next week or so, as soon as I
acquire more evidence. It may be useful to remind the following info
from my orginal report:

The long delays in scp procedure occur if machine B was NOT exposed to
an scp or ssh demand for a longer period of time. (Typically I face the
problem in the morning.) If an scp transfer is finally accomplished then
I can start a new one which already works without a delay.

2011-05-19 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This is probably a duplicate of bug 477437; but its a little hard to
tell from the logs.

First of all please can you check that you have a mysql-server instance
running:

  ps -aef | grep mysqld

You should see a /usr/sbin/mysqld process running.

You can then try running the following command:

  sudo apt-get -f install

This should trigger a re-configuration bacula against the now running
database.

Please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

[Bug 207791] Re: winbind forgets uid/name gid/name mappings in regulary periods

2011-05-19 Thread Torsten Krah
2. Please try everything below with a fresh install of lucid on a
separate non-production system, if possible.

Tried a fresh install of Natty (11.04) and its even more worse now - i
am seing this one more than 10 times a day and its nearly
reproducable. All i have to do is to open say 20 gnome terminals - the
last one will have this:

Ich habe keinen Benutzernamen!@sf050:~$

3. Please list the most recent package versions (e.g.: dpkg -l|grep -i
samba, and maybe other packages. ubuntu-bug might help). It'd also be
useful to list your distribution even if it's clear from the version
numbers, just to save time looking it up.

ii samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
SMB/CIFS file, print, and login server for Unix
ii samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
common files used by both the Samba server and client
ii samba-common-bin 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
common files used by both the Samba server and client
ii samba-tools 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba testing utilities
krah@sf050:~$ dpkg -l | grep winbind
ii libwbclient0 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba winbind client library
ii winbind 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba nameservice integration server

4. Please list relevant configuration options (e.g. both winbind and idmap
sections of /etc/samba/smb.conf and maybe more. ubuntu-bug might post the
entire configuration file).

Same configuration like initial report (excerpt):

security = ADS
idmap backend = rid:FRIENDS=1-2
idmap uid = 1-2
idmap gid = 1-2
winbind cache time = 300
winbind refresh tickets = true
winbind enum users = yes
winbind enum groups = yes
winbind use default domain = Yes
winbind offline logon = true

5. Check the log files for related information. /var/log/samba/log.winbind*
might be more useful than some of the other log files. Post anything that might
be relevant.

Log is empty - at least with configuration above.

6. If using rid or ads as the backend, try to find out if you can still query
the domain controller with wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g.
You may need to check klist, net ads status, net ads info to see if your
kerberos key didn't get renewed. Some of this should be run under sudo with an
Active Directory (AD) authenticated user. Consider posting some of the output.

Yes i can still query the AD. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g does work as does
getent or id.

7. Try disabling the cache. Maybe try both winbind cache time 0 in
smb.conf and with the line missing if you're not sure which disables the
cache. Post to the bug the results of trying to get the mapping (e.g. by
ls on a file owned by an Active Directory mapped user).

Using cache time = 0 it completely fails to get the mapping via wbinfo -u or
wbinfo -g. (Error looking up domain users). If i set it to at least 1 winbind
is able to get the mappings (strange)!
The only message in the logs i've seen so far is:

[2011/05/19 14:17:29.841087, 0]
winbindd/winbindd.c:195(winbindd_sig_term_handler)
  Got sig[15] terminate (is_parent=0)

8. Try winbind offline logon = false in smb.conf and post the results
of before and after cache timeout.

Same as 7 - but i still try to get some effect here.

9. Post any information you can about the cache and mapping files. This
could be a tbl file. The log files might give some information about
this.

Need some help here, what to post?

10. List whether you did a fresh install of Ubuntu or an upgrade. If it
was an upgrade, what version(s) did you upgrade from?

Its a fresh install of natty 11.04.

11. Did you try any other idmap backends? If so, please list which ones
and what order. I believe there might be a bug on switching backends
without deleting a mapping file.

No, i used security ads with rid backend.

 Thanks

[Bug 782007] Re: execscript runs before many configuration steps

2011-05-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
** Description changed:

+
+ SRU Justification
+ 1. Impact: users cannot modify grub parameters or specify NFS automount to
/etc/fstab with execscript
+ 2. Bug addressed: the bug was addressed by delaying the call to execscripts
+ 3. Patch: See the linked bzr tree.
+ 4. TEST CASE: Use vmbuilder with an execscript adding NFS automount to
/etc/fstab.
+ 5. Regression potential: If there were cases where users depended on
execscripts running earlier (which is unlikely), their installs would break.
+
+
  Hi all,
--exec scripts are currently run at the end of distro install, rather than
  at the end of Hypervisor.install_os.

Because it runs so early, I've had trouble:
Adding an NFS automount to /etc/fstab
Adding options to GRUB to pass to my custom kernel
Installing my own kernel package (I'd rather just use dpkg than setup
    a repo, etc.)

While some of these things can be done at firstboot, kernel and grub
reconfiguration can't be done, making any kernel options critical for
  the first boot impossible.

Similarly, network reconfiguration is difficult as most of the network
configuration is done after execscript is executed.

[Bug 500195] Re: 9.10 Nautilus - Cannot access FreeNAS CIFS/SMB folder containing more than 627 files

2011-05-19 Thread Roasted
I can confirm similar findings even on newer software, although my
findings were slightly different.

Server = FreeNAS 8 (64 bit). Running a ZFS Raid1 Array on two 500gb drives.
Client = Ubuntu 11.04 (64 bit).
Running the latest SMB/CIFS available on 11.04.
(I also duplicated the issue on a different FreeNAS 8 (64 bit) box using two
80gb drives in ZFS Raid1 as well)

I ran into the issue spoken above, though I didn't run into it at 627
files. I ran into it at 575 files. From there I got prompted Invalid
Argument. If I had 574 files on the server (all 1.0MB in size), I could
browse just fine. Once I added the 575th file, I could not browse. If I
SSH'd into the FreeNAS box and removed one single file, I was able to
browse again.

I got the same results with PCMan, Thunar, Nautilus, and Dolphin. When I
repeated the same steps with an Ubuntu 10.04 machine being the server
instead of FreeNAS 8, I did NOT exhibit any issues. I was able to write
thousands of files with no issues at all. These files were written from
an Ubuntu 11.04 (64 bit) client.

Oddly, I did NOT have this issue when I connected to the FreeNAS server
from a Windows 7 client. It seems to be something to do with Samba/CIFS
in Linux (Ubuntu in particular is what I tested) versus FreeNAS 8.

I formatted my FreeNAS 8 box and put FreeNAS 0.7.2 (64 bit) on it. I
also set up a ZFS based array. I did NOT exhibit any problems there.
FreeNAS 0.7.2 performed as expected well beyond thousands of files.

Due to all of the scenarios I applied these findings at, it's definitely
something with FreeNAS 8 and/or ZFS. I'm doubtful it's a ZFS issue due
to my ZFS success on 0.7.2. I made the FreeNAS developers aware in the
freenas IRC chat room. I'm not sure what movement will happen from
here, as it is out of my hands.

Until then, I will be utilizing Linux on my file server instead, as I
have not had any CIFS/SMB related issues to any degree in the Linux-to-
Linux or Windows-to-Linux scenarios.

[Bug 785424] [NEW] Double motd when ssh'ing into 10.04.2

2011-05-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I ssh into my 10.04.2 servers I get two motd print outs. The first
one appears to be current-ish, but the second one is way out of date.
The first motd contains this:

System information as of Fri May 20 01:36:13 EDT 2011

while the one just following says this:

System information as of Mon Apr 18 17:31:22 EDT 2011

(Note though that the time stamp lies. Current time is 17:40 EDT on May
19, and the first time stamp doesn't correspond to UTC, so I don't
really know what time it thinks it is. Ah, ntp must not be running as
the time stamp corresponds to what `date` tells me.)

I don't remember when the double motds started showing up. This does
occur on both 10.04.2 servers I have, and I have confirmation through
the DC LoCo that others are seeing this as well.

2011-05-19 Thread Joshua Lückers
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in dovecot.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

I ran command as suggested, with a process as :

USERPID ACCESS COMMAND
 /var/cache/debconf/config.dat:
root 13393 F (root)frontend
I killed process and update/ upgrade finished without error.
