[Bug 516016] Re: [karmic] openvpn service starts before dhclient

2011-07-12 Thread penzoiders
Same issue here as describen by Jim Cheetham on 2010-12-09. This is
ubuntu server 10.04.2 all updates installed as 2011-07-12.

tried to change start sequence with: update-rc.d openvpn defaults 99
10

but this not help.

If I boot machine, log and sudo service openvpn start it just works.

is there a workaround to automatically start the vpn as last service?

[Bug 809218] [NEW] Cobbler should generate a usable /etc/rsyncd.conf file but doesn't

2011-07-12 Thread David Dyball
Public bug reported:

`cat /etc/lsb-release`

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=11.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=natty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 11.04

`apt-cache policy cobbler`

cobbler:
  Installed: 2.1.0-0ubuntu7
  Candidate: 2.1.0-0ubuntu7
  Version table:
 *** 2.1.0-0ubuntu7 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected:

In order to make use of the cobbler replicate feature to sync between
two cobbler servers, Cobbler is supposed to generate a usable
/etc/rsyncd.conf file based on /etc/cobbler/rsyncd.template. A fresh
install of Cobbler does not generate this file at all on an Ubuntu
system. I don't run RHEL or CentOS cobbler instances so I can't confirm
whether or not this is Ubuntu specific though.

What Happens:

The documentation for cobbler says that the Rsync ops should be handled
over SSH or scp, but this is not the case at all as it tries to connect
to the non-existent Rsync server on the master when trying to sync,
which fails.

Workaround:

Manually building the config for rsyncd.conf using the template as a
guide works without issue it just appears that cobbler never tries to
generate it during `cobbler sync` or a restart of cobbler.

[Bug 809239] [NEW] Default interface config is not deleted after upgrade to Natty (dhcp3-server)

2011-07-12 Thread kecsap
Public bug reported:

I upgraded my Ubuntu to Natty from fresh Maverick installation. I try to
configure a dhcp server now and I think there is a bug: the
/etc/default/dhcp3-server exists on the system, but the new isc-dhcp-

Probably, the /etc/default/dhcp3-server was not deleted automatically
while upgrading to Natty. (isc-dhcp-server replaces the old dhcp3 server
since Natty).

[Bug 809239] Re: Default interface config is not deleted after upgrade to Natty (dhcp3-server)

2011-07-12 Thread kecsap
Fuckfuckfuck.

I bang my head to the wall.

I sucked for 40 minutes, why the dhcp server can not use my subnet
description. I edited wrong file:

The /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf is also not deleted after upgrade to Natty.

The real problem is that I tried to follow the dhcp server setup
tutorials/forum topics on the internet and all mention the old locations
of the config files which are still presented on the system after
upgrade.

Uff.

Ok, so what's the plan regarding the long term in LTS? There is a fix

To quote the inital reporter of this bug: Can we please have a backport
of this fix for Lucid - it makes running an Exim mailserver painful on
that release.

[Blueprint server-o-jenkins] Get Jenkins into the Ubuntu Archive

Blueprint changed by James Page:

Whiteboard changed:

+ Issues upstream in Debian with Eclipse (and the fact that eclipse-

  UDS Session Notes

  Discussion:
    - Approach to plugins;
  - packaging recipe?
  Documentation to be polished
  - disable Jenkins upstream plugin manager?
Not by default but ensure can be disabled and that this is documented
well.
  - build from source?
where possible - look at most popular plugins and assess top 5.

    - Delivery approach:
  - Debian or Ubuntu first?
Ubuntu then Debian - will get better testing coverage if it hits
Oneiric earlier.
  - Sponsorship burden - large number of packages.
Target universe, spread the burden as wide as possible in Ubuntu.

    - Jenkins Nuances:
   - Package variants - OK
   - Hudson polutiom - OK

Target 1.400.1 when delivered by upstream.

  Work Items (oneiric-alpha-3):

I am creating a new bug report to leave complicated history behind.

The maverick squid package 2.7.STABLE9-2ubuntu5.1 calls 'reload squid' in
/etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid
This kills squid.

The syslog shows squid main process (nnn) killed by HUP signal

I freshly installed squid and squid-common after purging them, nothing
was changed after installation, system was rebooted before test

[Bug 744293] Re: Infinite loop in helper LVM script for DRBD 8 in Lucid

2011-07-12 Thread Adam Gandelman
Jacob-

It looks like the patch was included in debian/patches/ but not in
debian/patches/00list, hence it was never being applied to the source.

I've fixed it and uploaded drbd8 - 2:8.3.7-1ubuntu2.3 to a ppa @
ppa:gandelman-a/ppa

Please test and verify, thanks!

Yes. As I was noted, the patch wasn't being applied during the package
build. We are uploading a new package applying the patch. Will let you

[Bug 74647] Re: php5-gd not using bundled GD library

2011-07-12 Thread RedScourge
I installed PHP 5.2.X on Lucid which normally comes with 5.3.X as I have
old code I cannot yet change.

This lead to a headache recompiling PHP with the proper GD library
because libaprutil1-dev and apache2-prefork-dev depend on their
respective non-dev packages, so in order to satisfy the dependencies
necessary for recompiling this older version of PHP, you have to
download .deb files for these two packages, modify /etc/apt/sources.list
back so it uses karmic instead of lucid as you usually have to do in
order to install the PHP 5.2.X packages from karmic, install all OTHER
dependencies, change /etc/apt.sources.list back, force install of these
.deb packages with dpkg --force-depends -i [packagename], THEN you can
compile, then you can uninstall all this crap it installed to compile,
and THEN you can replace your currently running version of php5-gd with
your newly compiled php5-gd .deb file (as altering and recompiling the
source package also compiles all the subpackages as well). I mentioned
most if not all of the commands I ran in order to accomplish this under
bug #809400 incase any of you don't know how to do all this and need
some help figuring it out.

2011-07-12 Thread RedScourge
would be awesome if this would be done, or if an optional php5-gd-
boutell package could be created that does this. I know this would work,
because I am currently running the default php5 package from karmic and
only had to swap in my recompiled php5-gd package,
php5-gd_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.10_amd64.deb

Only update available was drbd8-source after adding your ppa.
Maybe because I use amd64 builds? I noticed it says need to be built next to

[Bug 809632] [NEW] libvirt-bin upstart process issues wrong message

2011-07-12 Thread Whit Blauvelt
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 11.04 Server,

# service libvirt-bin start
start: Job is already running: libvirt-bin

That's just wrong. There's no such process. There's also no
/var/run/libvirtd.pid file. This continues to happen after a full purge
of libvirt-bin and reinstall of 0.8.8-1ubuntu6.2.

Nothing's showing up in the logs either. The one thing for certain is
that it's not true that the Job is already running. If that's the best
error message upstart can give for whatever the problem is here,
libvirt-bin should go back to using a standard init.d file.

[Bug 796216] Re: failed to create\start vm

2011-07-12 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, Max. The libvirt version you have installed is not an official
one. It appears to have come from

https://launchpad.net/~dnjl/+archive/build

Did you intend to use that version? If not, you can remove that ppa or,
if you need the ppa for other packages, you can pin libvirt to a
supported version.

If you did intend to use that version, then you might ask the ppa author
about the bug. To debug it, you'll want to run libvirtd by hand to look
at debugging information, and look at /var/log/libvirt/*.

My guess would be that this version of libvirt is failing to start
because of too old a kernel. A backported kernel may fix it for you.

I'm marking this invalid as the package is not supported.

2011-07-12 Thread Nate Muench
I did a little compiling on my LFS system, and I think I found our
problem points.

Below is everything we need to fix before the package will build
successfully (I think). First line is folders. The last section is
similar to one that's already fixed, but I'm not going to take any
chances.

lib/hgfsServerManagerGuest
hgfsChannelGuestBd.c:596:19: error: variable 'packetOut' set but not used

lib/misc
vthreadBase.c:965:23: error: variable 'key' set but not used
vthreadBase.c:961:9: error variable 'result' set but not used

lib/rpcIn
rpcin.c:569:17: error: variable 'current' set but not used
rpcin.c:568:9: error: variable 'resched' set but not used

lib/slashProc
net.c:857:11: error: variable 'nmatched' set but not used

So there we go, 4 files that need to be patched and we can hopefully get
a successful build against GCC 4.6.1.

[Bug 776103] Re: package open-vm-dkms 2011.03.28-387002-0ubuntu2 fails to build against 2.6.39 kernels, due to missing linux/smp_lock.h

2011-07-12 Thread Nate Muench
We got a successful build, I've attached the patch.

Also, Someone double check my work. I want to be sure that it's 100%
safe, because I did it with base knowledge. So some parts might be
wrong (I'm concerned about vixTools and the posixAttributeSpecified
fix).

Tomorrow, I'll probably update the branch to June (since this is what
the patch is based on).
