Hi Daniel Thanks for taking the time to prepare a revised debdiff for this upgrade. Looking at the debdiff and reviewing Jamie previous comments I have the following feedback: 1) debian/munin-node.postinst is modified in the debdiff but not mentioned in the merge changelog entry; I assume that this is something todo with the upstart conversion but this should be documented for future merges. 2) debian/changelog - some of the changelog comments for Fixes have got muddled with the Merge comment - makes it a little difficult to read; please could you also annotate the entry for upstream_bug_832.patch including the LP bug report? Great job on tagging the patches - I reviewed and they all appear to make sense to me. Ditto Jamie's comment re submission back to Debian if they have not been submitted already. Just to inform that since yesterday after when I updated to the latest version available on natty-proposed the servers are running good, and have shown no symptoms of messages from the future being discarded (verified through the absence of the error logs I was seeing in /var/log/eucalytus/axis2c.log). Did contact the ubuntu one support because in my synaptic the rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store package had disappeared. Seems like the current plan for oneiric ozelot is to replace rhythmbox with banshee. Will try to install banshee this evening. I see - nova-compute checks too quickly whether the vm has powered on. It asks libvirt to look up the vm, but libvirt complains that it has not (yet) created the cgroups. I don't suppose there's any chance of fixing this for Maverick as well? I believe that this is the cause of the verification failure in bug 720558, and I think that any attempt to work around this in GRUB would probably do more harm than good. Comment #2 on this bug suggests that cloud-init should no longer require the /dev/sd* names in Maverick, but I don't know what effect renaming them in a stable release would have on people. Scott Moser has explained to me why this is probably too invasive to fix in Maverick (hardcoded device names in /etc/fstab). Hi Ronen, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to make Ubuntu better. I work with kickstart meta-data various times a day and I have not been able to reproduce your bug report. Can you please give me a little bit of more information to be able to reproduce it as I was unable to? Information such as: - Are you using profiles or systems? - Are you modifying correctly the preseed to use the kickstart meta-data? - are you viewing the preseed by directly opening the file, or by viewing it through cobbler? I have to tried to reproduce this but without success by doing the following: sudo cobbler profile edit --name oneiric-i386 --ksmeta=user=testing Then I did the lines you list above to the preseed, and executed the following command to see the preseed that the machine that PXe's will use: sudo cobbler profile getks --name oneiric-i386 and the result was the following: ubuntu@cobbler:~$ sudo cobbler profile getks --name oneiric-4-i386 d-i base-installer/kernel/image string linux-generic d-i passwd/root-login boolean false d-i passwd/make-user boolean true d-i passwd/user-fullname string testing Which means the kickstart meta-data has been evaluated correctly. The same happens when doing this on systems instead of profiles. This actually would invalidate this bug report. Please, it would be helpful if you would be able to provide the requested information. With the debdiff above, I can still very rarely reproduce this - it's the same cause - nova is calling get_info while libvirt is still setting the cgroups. The nova-compute.log shows the unhandled exception now at _get_power_state in nova/compute/manager.py.
