[Bug 948559] Re: eth* NIC names hardcoded

2012-03-07 Thread Colin Watson
contrib/network requires things like /etc/sysconfig/ (a RHism) and isn't
installed; vlan_test{,-2}.pl are test scripts and are not installed.

For the rest, the documentation currently advises using the 'vlan-raw-
device' entry in /etc/network/interfaces, although I agree that we
should support the biosdevname interface names out of the box anyway.

[Bug 948909] [NEW] puppetmaster-passenger does not install cleanly from scrach

2012-03-07 Thread Glenn Aaldering
Public bug reported:

When installing puppetmaster-passenger the install will not finish
without errors. After doing some research the problem is because apache2
mod_headers is not enabled.

Output from install:

To activate the new configuration, you need to run:
  service apache2 reload
Syntax error on line 29 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/puppetmaster:
Invalid command 'RequestHeader', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not
included in the server configuration
Action 'configtest' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.
   ...fail!
invoke-rc.d: initscript apache2, action restart failed.
dpkg: error processing puppetmaster-passenger (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

mode.

Errors were encountered while processing:
 puppetmaster-passenger
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
Setting up puppetmaster-passenger (2.7.11-1) ...
Module ssl already enabled
Site puppetmaster already enabled
Syntax error on line 29 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/puppetmaster:
Invalid command 'RequestHeader', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not

invoke-rc.d: initscript apache2, action restart failed.
dpkg: error processing puppetmaster-passenger (--configure):

The fix:

a2enmod headers
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

It seems that only the SSL module is enabled through this install, but
it needs mod_headers too in order to run

[Bug 948993] [NEW] rabbitmq-2.7.1-0ubuntu1 lacks compatibility with plugin packages

2012-03-07 Thread Marc Cluet
Public bug reported:

rabbitmq 2.7.1 package breaks the compatilibility with the old rabbitmq-stomp
rabbitmq-plugins-common and rabbitmq-erlang-client packages (from which several

[Bug 948993] Re: rabbitmq-2.7.1-0ubuntu1 lacks compatibility with plugin packages

2012-03-07 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment rabbitmq-server_2.7.1-0ubuntu2.debdiff of this bug
report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff.
The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that
they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that
this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing
the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that
it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the
ubuntu-sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this bug
report.

[Bug 948595] Re: Default api-paste.ini does not properly route metadata requests to /1.0

2012-03-07 Thread Johannes Erdfelt
The reason why I ask is because I don't even see a 1.0 EC2 API doc
anywhere. It's not listed here:

http://aws.amazon.com/archives/Amazon-EC2

and the latest version isn't 1.0. All of the versions fit -mm-dd
format so 1.0 seems like it's a mistake not supposed to be in the list.

I'm not an expert on the EC2 API but to me it looks like the inclusion
in the list is a mistake and not the absence in the paste config.

[Bug 948156] Re: Include PHP 5.4 to Ubuntu 12.04 release

2012-03-07 Thread Clint Byrum
The work is only tracked right now in this blueprint:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-php54

The trouble right now is that Suhosin is not yet available for PHP
5.4.0. I've sent a message asking the Suhosin developers what the status
of that is, and built a PPA for testing at ppa:clint-fewbar/php5 (still
building at the moment).

I think that the biggest obstacle is changed API/ABI and need to do the

api-paste.ini: Add /1.0 to default urlmap

The metadata handler lists 1.0 as a supported version, but there is no
mapping for /1.0 to the meta pipeline in the default paste config, resulting
in requests to 169.254.169.254/1.0/ re-serving the metaversions pipeline
instead.

[Bug 919068] Re: bridge_ports all doesn't work at boot time

2012-03-07 Thread Stéphane Graber
I'm starting to run out of idea here...
I just tried with the following configuration Ubuntu 12.04:
 - 6 network cards
 - 3 configured as you do in your /etc/network/interfaces
 - 3 not mentioned at all in /etc/network/interfaces
 - br0 with static IP and bridge-ports all

Can you try your configuration with Ubuntu 12.04 beta1 (or later,
running updates) and ideally in a VM so we can ensure we have the exact
same setup.

I had a very quick look at ebtables, at least in 12.04 it doesn't seem
to contain a postinst, config or a debconf templates, so dpkg-
reconfigure should be a no-op here, however it does contain an init
script that could impact the system.

Result is:

[Bug 949362] [NEW] lxc.conf post-stop gets called even if LXC_AUTO is set to false

2012-03-07 Thread Stéphane Graber
Public bug reported:

Calling stop in pre-start causes upstart to jump directly to post-
stop, not skip it.

The case where this would be a problem is so specific that this really
isn't a big issue but probably still worh fixing :)

Case where we'd see the problem:
 - Booting a machine
 - Starting containers before lxc.conf is called
 - Have these containers symlinked in /etc/lxc/auto
 - Have LXC_AUTO=false in /etc/default/lxc
 - When lxc.conf is called by upstart, it'll just to post-stop, killing the
containers in the process

As I said, pretty unlikely to happen but still possible :)

[Blueprint servercloud-p-hdp-hadoop] Ubuntu Server - Hadoop

2012-03-07 Thread James Page
Blueprint changed by James Page:

Whiteboard changed:
  Status 20120603

Testing packages avaliable for hadoop, hbase, pig and hadoop-zookeeper
  in http://launchpad.net/~hadoop-ubuntu/+archive/testing

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hadoop-ubuntu/testing

Juju charms avaliable for hadoop, hbase and zookeeper:

  lp:~charmers/charms/precise/zookeeper/trunk
  lp:~charmers/charms/precise/hadoop/trunk
  lp:~charmers/charms/precise/hbase/trunk

Note that by default the zookeeper charm will use the zookeeper packages from
the main archive not the PPA - see the charm config.yaml file for details on
how to use the
  PPA's with these charms.

Dev PPA also now hosting backports of all packages for Ubuntu 11.10.

  Status 20122501

Dev packages avaliable for hadoop, hive, pig, hbase and hadoop-zookeeper
  in http://launchpad.net/~hadoop-ubuntu/+archive/dev

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hadoop-ubuntu/dev

  Target versions of Hadoop components:

  hadoop-1.0.1
  hcatalog-0.2.0
  pig-0.9.1
  hbase-0.92.0
  hive-0.8.1
  zookeeper-3.4.3

  Package naming:

  hadoop
  hcatalog
  pig
  hbase
  hive

Packages that target partner CANNOT have the same name as packages in
the main archive so zookeeper will be:

  hadoop-zookeeper

This will prevent and conflicts with the zookeeper package in the main
  archive.

  Assumptions:

Packaging will use bigtop as a base.
   - reuse of control file structure will help support bigtop packages in juju
charms as and when they support precise.
Java will NOT be rebuilt during the package build process.
Native libraries will be rebuilt during the package build process.
Q: What does this mean for the hive embedded in hcatalog (via
hcatalog-0.2.0/hive/external)? I'm guessing we just use the hdp-hive package we
create.
Patches may be required for native build components.
Debconf configuration in packages is useful for Juju charms and should be
applied where appropriate.
--- Debconf currently in use: namenode, jobtracker and hdfs_dir
Binary distributions will be used from upstream (no source build by default).
Q: Exactly what does this mean in this context? Binary distributions of ...
Are these the jar files inside the hortonworks/apache source (e.g.
./hive-0.7.1+/lib/javaewah-0.3.jar?
A: So most of the apache projects ship a binary distribution tarball which
includes all of the compile Java etc so we should not build from source - just
re-use these jars etc...

  Challenges:

hcatalog not packaged in bigtop trunk (need to check branches)
  JAVA_HOME and use of openjdk-6/7? JAVA_HOME detection - bigtop use a
specific package for this (bigtop-utils) which tries to guess - might be worth
re-using.
java-package as recommended approach to re-packaging Oracle java for Ubuntu
(generates Debian packaging from upstream binary distro).
Kerberos security - probably actually needs to be a charm configuration
option to secure a cluster.
Q: For Kerberos, do we have the necessary dependencies to get this done? If
so, I can do the charm work.j
Q: Re: Kerberos. We may need to really look into this as this will end up
affecting not only hadoop but, all of the other parts ( hive, pig, etc. ) as
well. This can really complicate the packaging/charming as well so, we may not
have time to get it all done in this cycle. Just my thoughts.
MultiArch native libraries in hdp-hadoop package - should not must.
Hive contains patches for hcatalog support - we need to work these in somehow
(maybe a overlay to the binary re-distribution).

  hcatalog:
External dependency on mysql-connector? and maybe mysql?
No binary distribution - only source so will need to be built locally to
produce release tarbal.

[Bug 939212] Re: AMI created from latest i386 Lucid image fails to boot

2012-03-07 Thread Chetan Sarva
Scott,

I just cleaned everything up and tried again using your steps above (for
installing the multiverse package) and everything seems to be working
now.

I'm quite certain I did previously first remove the installed ec2 tools
and then apt-get update and reinstall, so I'm not sure what went wrong.
The only difference I can see is that I had added multiverse to only one
of the repos (backports or updates, but not both) whereas you added it
to all of them.

not the true problem.
