2012-03-12 Thread JC Hulce
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

is probably correct.

[Bug 948993] Re: [FFe] [MIR] rabbitmq-stomp, rabbitmq-erlang-client

2012-03-12 Thread James Page
** Description changed:

- rabbitmq 2.7.1 package breaks the compatilibility with the old rabbitmq-stomp
rabbitmq-plugins-common and rabbitmq-erlang-client packages (from which several
other packages depend) due to the new server package including all the plugin
binaries.
- We need to modify the package to provide the plugin enable and disable
mechanisms in order to provide compatibility with these packages.
+ Rationale
+ -
+
+ Prior to rabbitmq-server 2.7.1 the STOMP and erlang-client plugins where
+ not part of rabbitmq-server core and are provided by separate packages.
+
+ These plugins are now provided by the rabbitmq-server source package.
+ This obsoletes the rabbitmq-erlang-client, rabbitmq-stomp and rabbitmq-
+ plugins-commons packages in universe.

** Description changed:

  Rationale
  -

  Prior to rabbitmq-server 2.7.1 the STOMP and erlang-client plugins where

[Bug 952893] [NEW] Zookeeper script contains invalid check for cygwin

2012-03-12 Thread Reuben Firmin
Public bug reported:

The zkserver script contains:

if $cygwin
then
ZOOCFG=`cygpath -wp $ZOOCFG`
# cygwin has a kill in the shell itself, gets confused
KILL=/bin/kill
else
KILL=kill
fi

cygwin is not defined in my shell or in the script. Due to the mysteries of sh,
it thus decides to enter the then block, and fails on line 68.

[Bug 953081] [NEW] libapache2-mod-php5 postinst script does not enable module

2012-03-12 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

The postinst maintainer script for libapache2-mod-php5 correctly enabled
the php5 apache module; however the reload_apache function does a force-
reload:

reload_apache()
{
if apache2ctl configtest 2/dev/null; then
invoke-rc.d apache2 force-reload || true
else
echo Your apache2 configuration is broken, so we're not restarting it
for you.
fi
}

I don't think this is sufficient to enable the php5 module; this can be
seen when installing lamp-server as follows:

sudo tasksel install lamp-server
sudo echo ? $world=\Hello World!\; echo $world; ?  /var/www/test.php
wget http://localhost:80/test.php

test.php is returned unprocessed.

Restarting apache resolves this issue.

Re: [Bug 951150] Re: lxc-start-ephemeral is not all ephemeral

2012-03-12 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Gary Poster (gary.pos...@canonical.com):
 Hi Serge. I don't actually know the original intent of -b, but what you
 say makes sense. I changed our code to change all bind mounts in the
 ephemeral's container to an ephemeral overlay, instead. That's kind of
 what I wanted anyway, but I was being lazy. :-) I also worried it would
 not be safe, but I thought about it some more and I think it might be
 fine.

 Also, now -b will change fstab rather than directly mounting, which
 simplifies some of the cleanup code.

 I'll add a changelog as you request.

No need, I've pushed your patch. Please do check when it is published
to make sure I merged the right branch :)

thanks,
-serge

@Stefan,

I'm not sure I understand the bug or the fix.

Would it suffice to simply keep the roms by their original names in the
ipxe package, while the renamed roms are in the kvm-ipxe package? If so
I'll just s/mv/cp/ debian/rules.

[Bug 948323] Re: Rom images for e1000 and ne2k missign vendor and device id

2012-03-12 Thread Stefan Bader
The bug, if to say so, is that for kvm there have been additional rom image
targets added. By the way the build system for ipxe works, I believe all the
required rom images have been build already by the makeall (whatever it is
called again). Just the names are different for some of them (for above
reasons).
So a fix may indeed be:
1. remove the additional build target for allqemu (not 100% sure about
virtio-net) or
at least all beside of virtio-net
2. just copy them to different names (ne-ne2k_isa, 8086100e-e1000_82540).
The other two roms should be already present under their name (pcnet32 and
rtl8139).

On the other hand I checked and it seems that kvm does not need the rom
header to include the correct vendor and device id. So the change is not
strictly required. For Xen we now have a patch to not include the kvm
rom name but the auto build one. So it could just be a build
optimization (not to build those two twice, probably just a linking
step)

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-03-12 Thread Ro
Confirmed for Precise beta.

Please, for the sake of corporate and government customers (where LDAP
and/or Kerberos is very likely to be deployed), elevate the priority of
this bug. I gather that this is of not much interest for the majority of
private desktop users, but in more professional environments, this is a
showstopper, meaning that such distribution simply cannot be deployed in
our corporate networks.

  No. EVM is now upstream. There is room for trusted boot work,
  especially as a demonstrable, better, and more flexible alternative to
  the uefi-based 'secure boot'. But this list is not right. Particularly

[Bug 274108] Re: postfix set-permissons fails

2012-03-12 Thread gouri
postfix set-permissions is a feature of postfix.

So, it this :

1) a bug in postfix - should be reported and fixed upstream),
or 2) bug in Ubuntu package ? - Ubuntu package should be fixed

How does a plain postfix installation behave ? Can this happen in a plain,
unpackaged postfix install ?
If yes, it is a bug in postfix. - 1
If no it is a bug in Ubuntu package. - 2

Based on googling the error message, I suspect it is 1, can anyone
confirm ?

[Bug 953453] [NEW] [FFE] use per-container apparmor profiles

2012-03-12 Thread Serge Hallyn
Public bug reported:

The current lxc package uses a single profile for all containers.
Because of the way this is implemented, administrators cannot customize
a policy for a special container (without copying /usr/bin/lxc-start to
a new container-specific /usr/bin/lxc-start-mycontainer, which could
then have its own policy).

Additionally, the default policy cannot at the same time clamp down on
cgroup access by the container (to prevent it escaping its device list
access, for instance) and allow nested lxc/libvirt (which requires
cggroup modification of the container's child cgroups).

I believe this will not be sufficient for administrators. Therefore I
think we should:

1. update lxc-create to have a '--apparmor file' argument to specify a custom
profile.
2. have lxc-create use a default policy (in /etc/lxc/lxc.apparmor) by default
3. edit lxc-start and lxc-execute to manually enter the container's policy as
specified by lxc.apparmor line in the configuration file, or a stock one if
unspecified.
4. edit lxc-clone and lxc-start-ephemeral to do the right thing.
