[Bug 974667] Re: dnsmasq does not bind to a port

2012-04-22 Thread Jacek N
/var/log/syslog copied when dnsmasq was broken.

I have just tested kubuntu 11.10 iso on the same VM and it is all fine
(however 11.10 does not use dnsmasq).

Just to let you know - I amthe person who reported the bug and problem
with ISO test so this does not actually impact multiple people.

[Bug 986385] Re: lxc.mount.entry fails into mnt/subdir

2012-04-22 Thread Serge Hallyn
The reason this happens is that by default 'mnt' is the directory used
as pivotdir, where the old_root is placed during pivot_root(). After
that, everything under pivotdir is unmounted.

A workaround is to specify an alternate 'lxc.pivotdir' in the container
configuration file.

The code should be changed to use a tempdir as pivotroot. However, that
can wait for Q and an SRU, since there is a workaround

[Bug 920749] Re: pam configuration for SSH prevents LANG override

2012-04-22 Thread Evan Jeffrey
Can we at least get a documentation fix on this 5 year old bug? The
ssh_config and sshd_config man pages, as well as the comments in those
configuration files specifically call out that the LANG and LC_*
environment variables are configured to be passed from client to server,
and they are so configured. However, on a default install this will not
actually happen. The documentation should be changed to reflect the
fact that while the environmental variables will be passed, PAM will
override the user preferences with the system defaults.

[Bug 987051] [NEW] advice

2012-04-22 Thread SemperFI
Public bug reported:

I used wubi to install the ver LTS ver 12.0... PP 32 bit
previosly I had installed in the same machine Xubuntu 11. ... 64 bit

to me seems that the 32 bit install kept some 64bit libs or config file
(in the boot give me the option to go to a previous linux install)
is that possible?

The hardware is 6 year old pentium d 950 with 3 gb of ram and 2 disk an
80 Gb sata 2 and a 500 gb sata2 on an intel ICH7 motherboard.

Trying to find the best version to use because i want to move all my
work environment to a linux system (Win 8 is running on the 80gb and i
dont like where MS is going with their OS working toghether with the big
watcher :) )

1) given the HW could someone suggest which is the best version to use:
2) How can i make sure that one install is not going on top opf the others
(clean up PC of any install) do I need to repartition or format the disk?
3) could someone suggest a good book on using ruby to develop testing gig)

Thank you
