[Bug 988374] Re: brctl setportprio fails silently
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug is marked as fixed in the Debian bug you linked, in version 1.5-1. Ubuntu will have carried this change since Oneiric, in version 1.5-2ubuntu1. Thus this bug is already fixed in the current development release, so I'm marking it as Fix Released. I don't think that this is a high-impact bug and thus does not warrant fixing in any previous stable release (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#When). ** Changed in: bridge-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released ** Changed in: bridge-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bridge-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988374 Title: brctl setportprio fails silently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bridge-utils/+bug/988374/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Blueprint servercloud-q-tomcat7] Promote Apache Tomcat 7 to main
Blueprint changed by James Page: Whiteboard changed: UDS Discussion Points: NO SESSION NEEDED User Stories: Frank has been using the Ubuntu provided/Canonical supported tomcat6 package for the last couple of years but he now has a requirement to deploy applications on Tomcat 7 whilst still ensuring his environment is kept up-to-date and secure. By deploying Ubuntu 12.10 he can a) easily transition his existing Tomcat 6 environments and b) support new Tomcat 7 requirements. Assumptions: - tomcat7 package should provide a suitable transition path from tomcat6. - tomcat7 does not introduce any new significant dependency requirements. - Reverse-Depends on tomcat6 can be transitioned to use tomcat7. - libservlet2.5-java packages will be retained in some form for source compat. - tomcat6 will be dropped from the archive, not deprecated (TBD late in cycle). Test Plan: 1) Upgrade Path Installed Ubuntu 12.04 with tomcat6; upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10; tomcat6 is replaced with tomcat7 and all web applications and configuration is transitioned to the new package locations. 2) Charm Juju charm for tomcat will not support tomcat6 for Ubuntu 12.10. - tomcat7 will be deployed as the only option. + tomcat7 will be deployed as the only option. Successful charm testing + of the tomcat7 charm. + + 3) New Install + + A user is able to select the 'Tomcat' task selection from the Ubuntu + Server ISO and post reboot has a working tomcat7 deployment. Automated + ISO testing will also validate this against every daily image. Release Note: Ubuntu 12.10 provides Apache Tomcat 7 as the default, supported version of Tomcat. [Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd
A quick workaround that solved my problem with this: First install libnss-ldap Configure ldap stuff, test if you can login but can't use setuid apps. Then install nslcd and configure. After these steps my system is working, and allowing me to login with ldap account and use sudo. It doesn't matter if debconf used or not. /etc/ldap.conf is overwritten in all cases with a new, sometimes partly correct (as changed by me) version (server names are correct, but not selection rules), sometimes at whole. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This is certainly the case in Ubuntu 12.04 (which no longer has python 2.6) In 11.10 and earlier support both 2.6 and 2.7 - by default you should get whatever version of python is default for the release you are using through the 'python' package but you will always get libpython2.6 and libpython2.7 installed pre-12.04. Hi Jose Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu. It looks like you have an odd bacula-client package installed - its showing up as 5.0.2 rather than the version released in Ubuntu Maverick. Also bacula-client from Ubuntu is just a meta package and does not contain any files. I would suggest the following action: sudo apt-get remove bacula-client sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get install bacula-client Marking 'Invalid' as upgrades from non-archive packages is not supported. [Bug 987207] Re: Puppetmaster-passenger will not start after reinstalling due to libapache2-mod-passenger
Hi Glenn I've been able to reproduce this issue using aptitude, but not apt. Aptitude automatically removes (rather than purges) libapache2-mod- passenger when you purge puppetmaster-passenger. As a result when you re-install puppetmaster-passenger (and hence libapache2-mod-passenger) it re-run the postinst script for libapache2 -mod-passenger but it incorrect assumes that an upgrade is happening and exits before it re-enables the passenger module. Marking 'Confirmed' and 'Low' - as you state the workaround of purging libapache2-mod-passenger works fine. Also re-assigning to the passenger package as this is not a puppet problem. ** Package changed: puppet (Ubuntu) = passenger (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: passenger (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: passenger (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987207 Title: Puppetmaster-passenger will not start after reinstalling due to libapache2-mod-passenger To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/passenger/+bug/987207/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 971028] Re: kerberos auth doesn't work because of kerberos server not found
Thomas I'm not sure that /etc/ldap.conf is installed by libpam-ldapd - it will certainly try to parse /etc/ldap.conf if it exists on upgrade but by default its configuration is installed in /etc/nslcd.conf. This change happened in 2009 so I think its un-related to what you are seeing. With regards to /etc/ldap/ldap.conf - yes libldap-2.4-2 does install that package but as its registered as a config file it should not have tried to overwrite your localized changed. Do you happen to have upgrade logs for one of the installations where you see this issue? They should be in /var/log/dist-upgrade. [Bug 985741] Re: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm
I don't think you need to upgrade at all, your multipathd is sufficiently modern and not much different from the version in 12.04. Interesting, I see that you're using user_friendly_names, though since you're also using LVM, it kind of makes that feature redundant as the LVM is now your user friendly name, and having that multipath feature adds another level of complexity when UDEV is creating devices. Please set user_friendly_names no in /etc/multipath.conf, and update your initrd update-initramfs -k all -u. The last part is important as the multipath.conf is copied to the initrd and used as the basis for any blacklists or additional UDEV juggling. What might have happened is you didn't update the initrd since you created the initial multipath config. Since the default is no, the ramdisk creates the normal long style WWID names, then it mounts root, multipathd starts which finds user friendly names set and then begins destroying the original WWID names in exchange for the mpathx versions. If LVM has claimed the MP device by then, destruction of the original name (and dmtable entry) will be blocked by reference counting. In general, it's imperative that you update the initramfs whenever lvm.conf or multipath.conf is changed, especially when you're using them together. https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/multipath-devices.html #multipath-devices-in-logical-volumes Also, please adjust your local character encoding to a western font. Some of your text files look like gibberish e.g. https://launchpadlibrarian.net/103100334/test_before_after_lvm_reboot.txt a¡±¡±a¡±€ (8:144) mpath9 (252:7) a¡±?a¡±€ (65:80) a¡±¡±a¡±€ (8:160) mpath15 (252:12) a¡±?a¡±€ (8:224) a¡±¡±a¡±€ (8:48) mpath5-part1 (252:10) a¡±¡±a¡±€mpath5 (252:2) a¡±?a¡±€ (65:16) a¡±¡±a¡±€ (8:96) mpath14-part1 (252:9) Thank you. -- Peter ** Changed in: multipath-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Changed in: multipath-tools (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Peter Petrakis (peter-petrakis) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985741 Title: multipath can't show device on which is setup lvm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/985741/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 974256] Re: Exception during the installation of Nova Essex-rc4 on Ubuntu 12.04
I'm using a MySQL database but when you install OpenStack with apt-get, of course at this moment, you can't configure OpenStack; so the nova- manage db sync command called by apt-get creates a SQLite database. It's after the installation you can change the database from SQLite to MySQL in the nova configuration.
