I think that this printing problem is back. After a fresh install of Ubuntu
12.04 I can't print. Actually I can't autenticate to the printer's server.

I played around with this a bit and derived that it is due to the length
of the hostname (at least in my case). With a hostname of length 40 I

I just upgraded to 12.04. As the machine boots, it seems to connect to
the network since I can ping to IPs, however it cannot resolve DNS. In
other words if I do ping google.com it would say unknown host
google.com. Please let me know what kind of specific information you
may need.

I can confirm this effects Precise 12.04.
I was able to somewhat work around this by changing the SASL auth
mechanism from 'pam' to 'rimap' though I have yet to get authentication
working in Roundcube. At lest testsaslauthd succeeds with the rimap
mechanism.

Precise). I run it in production but I do not use any external auth. A
quick comparison with PatRiehecky's profile showed the my profile does
not have abstractions/consoles and that might or might not be required

I've done some more experimenting, and it appears that stopping autofs
(using stop autofs) while in multiuser removes autofs-related lines
from /proc/mounts. However, when /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs in run level 6
is running I've verified that /proc/mounts still contains autofs-related
entries.

Two others running bind9 do notpo have this problem. The two that have
this problem do have DNSSEC enabled (though only one of them is actually
