2012-05-03 Thread David Britton
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 969299 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969299

If I turn apparmour off, I can no longer effectively install through
juju if the package includes NTP. I'll work to reproduce with a minimal
environment.

[Bug 958704] Re: ubuntu 12.04 boot with nis(ypbind) autofs (nfs) not working.

2012-05-03 Thread dm
No, it doesn't work. I have to restart ypbind before login. The same
bug arises some weeks before in 11.10 and was fixed after 2 weeks. The
bug is very annoying. Please fix it soon. I'm using a rather up to date
system (12.04 with latest patches).

lxc-execute -n test -f test.conf -- /bin/echo hi

[Bug 941968] Re: lockfile-create hangs inside lxc containers

2012-05-03 Thread David Britton
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 969299 ***

I'm the same has @breu. the juju charm I was using was making the
hostname of my system 40 characters. Reducing the charm name length
solved the problem. I think this bug should be re-opened and fixed in
NTP or in LXC or wherever the problem lies.

I decided not to assign to jjohansen, only subscribe him :)

If noone else gets to the bottom of this before I clear some things off
my plate, I will see if I can get to the bottom of it. I would assign
myself to it, but dont' want to stop someone else from jumping in if
they have time.

Thanks for that. But shouldn't the fix (vice workaround) be adding an

[Bug 981955] Re: lxc-execute without config does not seem to work in precise

2012-05-03 Thread Andrew Cowie
Is lxc 0.8.0 going to be updated into Precise? This bug is pretty
annoying; and while I appreciate there is a workaround, it seems adding
an extra config entry to lxc-excute invocation just to avoid an apparmor
failure is a bit much to ask of users.

[Bug 994034] [NEW] Cannot deallocate floating addresses as cloudadmin

2012-05-03 Thread Andrew Glen-Young
Public bug reported:

Occassionally I need to deallocate floating IP addresses that my clients
have allocated but are not using. Attempting to do this throws a
NotAuthorized even if my user has the global role of cloudadmin.

Unfortunately the 'nova-manage' commands do not seem to provide a means
of releasing floating IP addresses and so I am attempting to use the
euca2ools instead. The 'nova' tools will not seem to allow me to
deallocate/release addresses either.

Command (as a cloudadmin user):

$ euca-release-address 172.16.93.110

sql UPDATE floating_ips SET deleted_at = NULL, fixed_ip_id = NULL,
project_id = NULL, host = NULL where floating_ips.deleted = 0 AND
floating_ips.auto_assigned = 0 and host is NULL;

[Bug 993706] Re: apparmor preventing lxc-execute from running

2012-05-03 Thread Serge Hallyn
Note that the lxc-execute profile will need to be more lenient than the
lxc-start one.

@afcowie, if you'd like to propose a patch for this, please feel free,
as I won't be able to do it this week.

[Bug 994194] [NEW] Unable to load dynamic library pdo_pgsql.so

2012-05-03 Thread JazZ
Public bug reported:

At the bigining, I just updated ubuntu 10.04 to ubuntu 12.04. Everything
worked excepted davical.

Davical enables me to to have a shared calendar, for personal et professional
thinks. I have spent some time to debug davical, and I have see that it is
impossible for davical (in php) to connect to PstGreSQL database through PDO.
I have then chekced logs of apache, and I have found these errors :
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/pdo_mysql.so' -
/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/pdo_mysql.so: undefined symbol: pdo_parse_params in
Unknown on line 0
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library

/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/pdo_pgsql.so: undefined symbol: pdo_parse_params in
Unknown on line 0
PHP Warning: Module 'pgsql' already loaded in Unknown on line 0

So you can see that this bug affect pdo_sql and pdo_pgsql.

I have reinstalled php5-pgsql package, bug nothing happens. I have no
idea to correct this bug.

Thanks in advance for your help.

[Bug 994199] [NEW] vmbuilder and /etc/sudoers template missing sudo group support

2012-05-03 Thread Chris Samaritoni
Public bug reported:

I noticed when creating a 12.04 VM with vmbuilder, the template file
/etc/vmbuilder/ubuntu/sudoers.tmpl that is used to generate the
/etc/sudoers appears to be quite outdated. From my understanding on
12.04 you are supposed to use the sudo group for putting users in, to
allow sudo access and admin was just hanging around for backward
compatibility. The template file does not include a sudo entry in the
/etc/sudoers

Current template:

# /etc/sudoers
#
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.
#
# See the man page for details on how to write a sudoers file.
# Defaults

Defaults!lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn

# Host alias specification

# User alias specification

# Cmnd alias specification

# User privilege specification
rootALL=(ALL) ALL

# Members of the admin group may gain root privileges
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL

I modified the /etc/vmbuilder/ubuntu/sudoers.tmpl to match a typical
phyical install (ie, from CD) and my issue was solved.

Modified template file:

#
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.

[Bug 993794] [NEW] Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks logging in some wireless networks

2012-05-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

our academic wifi, is protected with authentication practiced with a web
page. The wifi network looks to be open to anyone, but to operate it
after having connected the wifi you need to open a web page. This will
automatically redirect you to an authentication page and after you are
authenticated you can work on the wifi.

The problem is that with precise you can never get to the authentication
page, since its url cannot be resolved.

The thing used to work fine with previous ubuntus and works fine with
Windows.

Thanks in advance for looking into it.

[Bug 993794] Re: Precise resolvconf+dnsmasq setup breaks logging in some wireless networks

2012-05-03 Thread Thomas Hood
Based on the information you have provided so far I think that dnsmasq
is the most likely culprit so I will reassign this issue over there.

If you get your hands on an affected machine then please let us know so
that we can continue the investigation.

[Bug 994212] [NEW] ubuntu 12.04 automounts (autofs) not working with ldap maps on boot

2012-05-03 Thread heckheck
Public bug reported:

This bug is very similar in nature to Bug #958704. In a nutshell,
autofs is unable to initialize correctly on boot due to upstart not
starting things in proper sequence. In my case, network drives are
described in LDAP maps and autofs is most likely starting before the
system is able to use the network to retrieve the proper maps from LDAP.
That results in drives not being mountable unless I restart autofs. For
example

root@bar:/localhome/jheck# cd /dat/foo
bash: cd: /dat/foo: No such file or directory
root@bar:/localhome/jheck# restart autofs
autofs start/running, process 2188
root@bar:/localhome/jheck# cd /dat/foo
root@bar:/dat/foo#

So you see that for me to get my network drives working, I need to
restart autofs after boot. This smacks of improper initialization
sequencing.

The following packages are installed on my system and in use to use autofs with
LDAP maps
autofs-ldap, ldap-utils, ldap-auth-client, nscd

I think this problem should be easily solvable by having autofs wait for
the proper network utilities to be started and running before it
attempts to initialize. This has been a perennial problem for NIS and
LDAP reliant networks for MANY versions of Ubuntu. I had similar
problems back in 8.04 when our system used NIS and also in 10.04.
Please straightnen this out, since Ubuntu needs to be useful in network
environements that use these types of auto-configuring network
topologies.

this workaround allowed installation to proceed for me:

the following while trying to upgrade slapd:

This looks to be related to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-

This looks like a repeat of bug #628237. However, slapd 2.4.28-1.1/amd64

Looking at the package info for slapd:

  Package: slapd

We can see that it's not requiring a newer libsasl2-2.

At this point I did an apt-get install libsasl2-2 and it installed the
new libsasl2-2 and allowed the configuration of slapd to finish.

+

+ -- SRU Justification --
+
+ [Impact]
+ slapd's maintainer scripts make use of utilities like slapcat and slapadd
which require a running slapd server, however, the relationship between slapd
and libsasl2-2 packages do not take into account a binary incompatability
introduced with 2.4.28-1.1. As a result, libsasl2-2 is not upgraded until
after slapd, slapd fails to start (with error msg cited in the bugs), and
maintainer scripts fail during upgrades with a debconf error like:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/965636/
+
+ [Development Fix]
+ The issue has been sorted in Debian and in Quantal with the recent merges. A
thorough explanation of the fix is available at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=628237#163 . The solution is
to update cyrus-sasl2 with:
+ - Breaks: 'slapd 2.4.25-4' on libsasl2-2
+ - shlib dependency on 2.1.24 for libsasl2-2
+ Both of which have been applied to packaging in Debian and synced into Ubuntu
Quantal. A no-change rebuild of openldap against the new sasl dependency is
required as well.
+
+ [Stable Fix]
+ The two one-liners from above should be back-ported from 2.1.25.dfsg1-4
packaging and applied
+ to cyrus-sasl2 packaging in Precise. A no-change rebuild of openldap against
the newly updated dependency is required as well.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ To reproduce, install slapd on a lucid installation, populate a minimal LDAP
directory and do-release-upgrade. A script to populate a minimal database can
be found at http://paste.ubuntu.com/965633/.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal. Packaging changes ensure proper ordering of upgrades during
dist-upgrade and do not touch original source tree.

Note that the IPv6 translation address pops up on all interfaces when the
disable setting is 0, and goes away immediately when the disable setting is set
to 1. To make this permanent on 12.04, create a file named
/etc/sysctl.conf.d/60-disableipv6.conf and add a line that says
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1.  I'm partial to running:
sauer@pyro:~$ echo net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 | sudo tee
/etc/sysctl.d/60-disableipv6.conf
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
The setting in that file will take effect when you reboot or reload the sysctl
settings by running sudo start procps.

This is still a bug in Precise, IMHO. If IPv6 is going to be enabled by
default on the systems, then the Ping6 command should be set in backuppc.pl

[Bug 988394] [NEW] Reboot hangs because /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs chokes on non-existent mounts

2012-05-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

All our machnes were hanging indefinitely when asked to reboot. We
traced it down to the /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs script hanging. The
problem in our case is that autofs leaves phantom entries in
/proc/mounts after it's stopped (I'm reporting this as a separate bug
#988397). The entries autofs creates are not real mount points - these
are the directories monitored by the autofs daemon, which mounts file
systems as subdirectories to those directories.

The expected behaviour for the umountfs script would be to skip over any
bogus mount points, left over by autofs or anything else.

For instance, we found out that by the time /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs runs
the autofs daemon is stopped (as expected) and all directories that had
been mounted by it are already unmounted (as expected, it mounts NFS
shares in our case, which are unmounted by /etc/rc6.d/S31umountnfs.sh).
However, /proc/mounts still contained the following lines:

/etc/auto.nfs_h /h autofs
rw,relatime,fd=6,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,indirect 0 0
/etc/auto.nfs_s /s autofs
rw,relatime,fd=12,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,indirect 0 0
/etc/auto.nfs_cdf /cdf autofs
rw,relatime,fd=18,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,direct 0 0

which confused the umountfs script. The variable REG_MTPTS, among the
proper file systems, contained the following: /h /s /cdf.
Subsequently, when the umountfs script invoked fstab-decode umount ...
it hung trying to unmount these non-existent file systems.

In summary, I think that either the umountfs script should be made
smarter to not pass bogus mount points to fstab-decode, or fstab-decode
should be more robust and not hang when given a mount point that does
not exist. Perhaps both.

Thanks!

[Bug 988394] Re: Reboot hangs because /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs chokes on non-existent mounts

2012-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
I don't think this analysis is correct. At the time the umountfs script
finishes, *all* filesystems are supposed to be unmounted. This includes
any mount points watched by autofs. So why is autofs still running at
this point in the shutdown? The autofs daemon should be shut down
*prior* to /etc/rc6.d/S35networking, since at that point there's no
network left and autofs should no longer be trying to mount new
filesystems anyway!

And if I look at the autofs5 package, it has a wrong upstart job that
does 'stop on runlevel [!2345]', which does not properly serialize the
shutdown to ensure the service is stopped before we reach the unmounting
phase. Thus there's a race between /etc/init/rc.conf and
/etc/init/autofs.conf.

Reassigning to the autofs5 package.
