[Bug 745082] Re: DNS queries go to the wrong DNS server when moving between networks

2012-08-22 Thread Christian Orth
system boots and http is unavailable. local transparent squid via
iptables-REDIRECT is existent.
ping, wget host, etc can resolv ip's, but squid does not.

files in /etc/resolvconf:
root@PCTO-71-D1:/etc/resolvconf# find .
.
./update.d
./update.d/libc
./update.d/dnscache
./update-libc.d
./update-libc.d/squid3
./update-libc.d/avahi-daemon
./update-libc.d/squid3.dpkg-new
./interface-order
./resolv.conf.d
./resolv.conf.d/base
./resolv.conf.d/original
./resolv.conf.d/head
output from squid-logfile:
 less /var/log/squid3/cache.log | grep nameserver
2012/08/20 15:20:05| Warning: Could not find any nameservers. Trying to use
localhost
2012/08/20 15:20:05| or use the 'dns_nameservers' option in squid.conf.
2012/08/20 15:21:24| Adding nameserver 172.22.0.254 from /etc/resolv.conf

restarting squid manually works for me. /adding a restart to rc.local works too.
we tried to but were unable to write a apropriate upstart job-definiton that
starts squid after network is up.

[Bug 1032550] Re: [multipath] failed to get sysfs information

2012-08-22 Thread Peter Petrakis
So you restarted multipath-tools or rebooted before testing again? I was afraid
of this,
the RH patch isn't even upstream and was applied against a different code base.
There
may be additional patches that have a cumulative effect that we're missing.

[Bug 1017978] Re: [MIR] libfcgi, ceph (radosgw)

2012-08-22 Thread Clint Byrum
FYI, I've uploaded a new version of ceph to quantal, 0.48-1ubuntu4,
which builds radosgw and rest-bench and depends on libfcgi. It would
appear that at least for the near-term, radosgw will remain in universe.

Yehuda, the comments I see from Sage indicate that non-radosgw malloc
sites were addressed:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph/+bug/932898/comments/9

So perhaps there's more that can be looked at?

[Bug 1040177] [NEW] slapd install fails when requesting to 'Omit OpenLDAP server configuration

2012-08-22 Thread Paul Boven
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu slapd package now installs a default DIT. If one doesn't need
this DIT, debconf question Omit OpenLDAP server configuration? (at
prio low) gives the option to not install that, but then the package
installation doesn't complete:

Setting up slapd (2.4.28-1.1ubuntu4.1) ...
  Omitting slapd configuration as requested.
 * No configuration file was found for slapd at /etc/ldap/slapd.conf.
invoke-rc.d: initscript slapd, action start failed.
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Expected: apt-get install to not give an error when requesting Omit
OpenLDAP server configuration, and a 'clean' slapd with only the
minimal required cn=config loaded so that it can then be configured as
needed.

[Bug 1017978] Re: [MIR] libfcgi, ceph (radosgw)

2012-08-22 Thread Yehuda Sadeh
At the time we went through the entire code base. It didn't make sense going
just through the ceph code and not through the radosgw code, they reside on the
same tree and share code. Also, the radosgw code size is not as big as it was
implied at the time.
In any case, we audited that code again, and it mostly looks ok (other than a
single issue of not checking realloc, which was probably missed at the first
time). A trivial fix for that is ready. All the other issues have been fixed.
There are a few isolated cases of strcpy/sprintf that are being used. We went
through all of them and verified that they are safe (size of source is known,
destination has enough space allocated). We can change these, they're pretty
trivial. though we're hesitant to add unnecessary changes, we don't want to
break anything by mistake.

All in all there are really a few affected call sites, and as I said,
the code in question is really not that big.

[Bug 1040212] [NEW] PHP CGI configuration fundamentally changed

2012-08-22 Thread Clint Byrum
Public bug reported:

This discussion is ongoing in Debian, and the fixes have not even
landed, but I wanted to make sure this does not get forgotten.

http://lists.debian.org/debian-apache/2012/08/msg00043.html

Basically quantal has a changed mime-types package that will affect some
PHP users. The proposed release note that will be included in Debian
wheezy should probably also be quoted in Quantal's release notes.

Default PHP extension configuration
---

The mime-types package has dropped non-standard definitions of
PHP MIME-Types as a security measure. Default PHP configuration
for libapache2-mod-php5{filter} and php5-cgi now only serve files
which have .php, .php[345] and .phtml extensions on a most right
place as opposed to previous state where filename.php.foobar
would have been interpreted. Please read NEWS file in the PHP
SAPI of your choice for further information.

[Bug 1015405]

2012-08-22 Thread Kirk-strong
I just built and installed clamav 0.97.5 on a Solaris 11 system that had
0.97.4 running successfully and within a few hours I encountered this
issue.

When will 0.97.6 be available and does it include a fix? How can I get
the fix prior to 0.97.6 release?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1025544] Re: [SRU] schema changes using sqlalchemy's sqlite dialect can fail when using reflection

2012-08-22 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Adam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted sqlalchemy into precise-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sqlalchemy/0.7.4-1ubuntu0.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1039871] [NEW] [needs-packaging] oprofile 0.9.7

2012-08-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
Antonio Rosales (a.rosales) has assigned this bug to you for Quantal:

Per Oprofile home page:

OProfile is a system-wide profiler for Linux systems, capable of
profiling all running code at low overhead. OProfile is released under
the GNU GPL. It consists of a kernel driver and a daemon for collecting
sample data, and several post-profiling tools for turning data into
information.

Project Homepage: http://oprofile.sourceforge.net/

License: GNU GPL Version 2, June 1991

Notes:

Oneiric Universe contained oprofile 0.9.6. However, oprofile missed
12.04. Currently targeting Quantal (12.10) Universe for 0.9.7 packaging.

Debian sid[0] and squeeze[1] release contain the 0.9.6 version. With the
Developer Information (PTS) page having a todo to package the latest
upstreat version, 0.9.7.

The following two patches will also need to be applied ontop of 0.9.7 in
order to properly profile new IvyBridge Intel systems.

[Bug 1031065] Re: cloud-init-nonet runs 'start networking' explicitly

2012-08-22 Thread Scott Moser
I was able to recreate the original problem of bug 800824 by doing the
following on a precise instance:
 - setup the instance, get source roots of the ubuntu-cloud lxc root:
for r in oneiric precise quantal; do \
 sudo lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n source-$r-amd64 -- \
--release $r --arch amd64 --stream daily; done
 - RELEASE=oneiric
 - sudo apt-get install lxc
 - sudo lxc-clone -o source-$RELEASE-amd64 $RELEASE-amd64
 - edit /var/lib/lxc/$RELEASE-amd64/rootfs/etc/init/cloud-init-nonet.conf
commenting out the 'start networking' line.
 - sudo lxc-start --name=$RELEASE-amd64
 - Here, you will see the cloud-init nonet timeout, and
wait for 120 seconds before seeing a tty prompt.
 - sudo lxc-stop -n $RELEASE-amd64
 - sudo lxc-destroy --name=$RELEASE-amd64

If you do *not* comment the line out in cloud-init-nonet.conf, you will
see the cloud-init output and boot quickly.

Repeating the above process for RELEASE=precise will show both cases working
RELEASE=oneiric with 'start networking' : boots quickly
 RELEASE=oneiric without 'start-networking': timeout
RELEASE=precise with 'start networking' : boots quickly
 RELEASE=precise without 'start-networking': timeout
RELEASE=quantal with 'start networking' : boots quickly
 RELEASE=quantal without 'start-networking': timeout

On quantal, the cloud-init output in the timeout case looks like:
  Cloud-init v. 0.7 running 'init-local' at Wed, 22 Aug 2012 20:09:07 +. Up
5131.22 seconds.
cloud-init-nonet waiting 120 seconds for a network device.

What is the correct fix here?

[Bug 1040212] Re: PHP CGI configuration fundamentally changed

2012-08-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package php5 - 5.4.6-1ubuntu1

---
php5 (5.4.6-1ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian experimental (LP: #1006738 , LP: #1040212)
Remaining changes:
- d/rules: Simplify apache config settings since we never build
  interbase or firebird.
- debian/rules: export DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH properly.
- Add build-dependency on lemon, which we now need.
- Dropped firebird2.1-dev, libc-client-dev, libmcrypt-dev as it is
  in universe.
- Dropped libcurl-dev not in the archive.
- debian/control: replace build-depends on mysql-server with
mysql-server-core-5.5 and mysql-client-5.5 to avoid upstart and
mysql-server-5.5 postinst confusion with starting up multiple
mysqlds listening on the same port.
- Dropped php5-imap, php5-interbase, php5-mcrypt since we have
  versions already in universe.
- Dropped libonig-dev and libqgdbm since its in universe. (libonig
MIR has been declined due to an inactive upstream. So this is
  probably a permanent change).
- modulelist: Drop imap, interbase, sybase, and mcrypt.
- debian/rules:
  - Dropped building of mcrypt, imap, and interbase.
  - Install apport hook for php5.
  - stop mysql instance on clean just in case we failed in tests
- debian/control, debian/rules: Re-enable libedit-dev.
  * Dropped Changes:
- debian/rules: change memory limits on example .ini files.

[Bug 1038108] Re: cloud-init should offer an option to reboot following updates if the kernel was changed

2012-08-22 Thread Scott Moser
Proof of concept has this diff:

resulting in this console output:
 http://paste.ubuntu.com/1161564/

and this cloud-init.log:
 http://paste.ubuntu.com/1161571/

Specifically:
Aug 22 20:40:36 server-14956 [CLOUDINIT] util.py[DEBUG]: Writing to
/var/run/reboot-required - wb: [420] 3 bytes
Aug 22 20:40:36 server-14956 [CLOUDINIT] cc_apt_update_upgrade.py[WARNING]:

Aug 22 20:40:36 server-14956 [CLOUDINIT] util.py[DEBUG]: Running command

'init-local' at Wed, 22 Aug 2012 20:40:45 +. Up 5.53 seconds.

The patch there is hacked to turn this on by default and also to force
the writing of that file (and avoid a reboot loop by having me touch
/etc/foo first).

[Bug 1028503] Re: support creating initial user if not present

2012-08-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package cloud-init - 0.7.0~bzr633-0ubuntu1

---
cloud-init (0.7.0~bzr633-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

  * New upstream snapshot.
* support creating users on boot. remove requirement for a 'ubuntu'
user to be previously present in image. (LP: #1028503)
* add experimental apt_reboot_if_required flag to reboot if necessary
after upgrade or package install (LP: #1038108)
* improve mirror selection for a distro:
  * support arm mirrors (LP: #1028501)
  * support seeding security mirror (LP: #1006963)
  * support dns mirrors including availability-zone reference
(LP: #1037727)
* include a None datasource so items like ssh host key generation
occur if there is no other metadata service. (LP: #906669)
* print authorized_keys for users to the console (LP: #1010582)
* Add RHEVm and vSphere support as datasource AltCloud [Joseph VLcek]
