[Bug 1010791] Re: package tomcat7 7.0.26-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-09-18 Thread James Page
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu.

Looks like you deleted some configuration files that Tomcat 7 depends on
prior to the upgrade.

I would recommend that you purge and re-install tomcat7:

sudo apt-get purge tomcat7\*
sudo apt-get install tomcat7

This should resolve your issue.

The maintainer script could be a little more resilient to this file
disappearing - marking 'Low' and 'Triaged' as there is sufficient
information to resolve this bug now.

** Summary changed:

- package tomcat7 7.0.26-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage:
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

[Bug 1050934] Re: VM stops receiving packets on heavy load from virtio network interface briged to a bonded interface on kvm hypervisor

2012-09-18 Thread ITec
Yes, the switch is 802.3ad enabled.

LACP Group Status says:

System ID :00:15:77:C1:76:92

Key: 1
Aggregator Attached Port List
9 9,10
10

Key and SystemID correspond with Partner Key and Partner Mac
Address shown in /proc/net/bonding/bond2

I tried the same tests with a container. I had to change
lxc.network.bridge=brb2 to lxc.network.link=brb2 to get it work.

The problem did not occur in the container.
Nor does it occur with emulated NICs like e1000 in the virtual machine. But
these are much slower than NICs of the type virtio. Does lxc use virtio?
It only occurs with virtio.

[Bug 1043292] Re: Hung agent processes

2012-09-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Have run into this quite a few times now on precise. Its really quite
dangerous as puppet just randomly seems to fail.

I've looked through the changelog of puppet 2.7.12 and can't find any
obvious reason this doesn't happen, so the next step is likely to find a
reliable reproducer (tough, probably a race) and then bisect it.

[Blueprint servercloud-q-powernap-opencompute-integration] PowerNap integration into OpenCompute

2012-09-18 Thread Antonio Rosales
Blueprint changed by Antonio Rosales:

Whiteboard changed:
  UDS Discussion Points:

Capability of S3 suspend in OCP
   (current state)
Neet to communicate / articulate S3 importance to the Hardware Management and
Mobo track.

  Steps
1a. Make sure functionality that is needed by PowerNap is in OCP
1b. Make sure that PowerNap supports OCP monitors / etc
   2. Make PowerNap part of the required specification
   3. Software
   - Authenticated/encrypted packet over a network to pass a power comand.
   - Server side - Monitor to wakeup certain disks based on jobs.
   - PowerWake - IPMI support.

  User Stories:

Frank wants to be able to take advantage of the OCP hardware power
savings features by making use of S3. PowerNap provides a framework for
which it can effectively monitor various aspects of the machine (in
userspace) and determine when the machine is not utilized.

By making use of PowerNap, Frank will be able to obtain power savings by
using S3 on his servers, when these are not being in use as determined
by PowerNap, and will be able to wake them up on demand.

  Assumptions:

  - OCP Provides HW that supports S3
  - OCP Has provided the functionality needed by PowerNap
  - OCP provides HW to test PowerNap functionality.

  Test Plan:

   - Install PowerNap in OCP hardware and make sure it works as expected.

  Comments:
Is the Work Items definition complete? -- Daviey
For now yes, after more investigation for OCP, might have to add WI -- Andres.
+ [18-Sep-2012] Confirmed with Scott Moser to post pone work items --- a.rosales

Also, does 'ifdown eth0; ifup eth0' in the guest bring networking back
up? I'm wondering whether you have the same problem as bug 997978.
Note that that bug was fixed for reporters by using the qemu-kvm in ppa
:ubuntu-virt/backports, and we're waiting on feedback on whether the
qemu-kvm version in ppa:ubuntu-virt/kvm-network-hang also fixes it.

So it should definately be worth it to test at leaset ppa:ubuntu-
virt/backports.

May be it is the number of VMs then... Can you run 11 of them ?

I couldn't do 11 - not enough memory. I could do a bunch. However
I just noticed that you're running amd in 32-bit mode with PAE. I
was running 64-bit lucid! I'll re-install and try again, unless you
confirm that you are able to reproduce this with 64-bit lucid as well.

Yes, in my case both host and guest are 32-bit. PAE is enabled by
default in stock 32-bit server Lucid kernel.

All my computers are running in 32-bit mode and, unfortunately, I can't
easily reinstall OS on them.

[Bug 973663] Re: quota returns nothing on 12.04

2012-09-18 Thread Steve Atwell
I'm seeing this issue as well when trying to get user home directory
quotas for NFS home directories.

Seems to be an upstream bug that's already been fixed. If I build quota
4.01-1 from Debian Sid on Precise, it works properly.

[Bug 972845] Re: after upgrade to precise, service did not start

2012-09-18 Thread Eric Biggers
I am experiencing this problem in Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop (package:
tftpd-5.2-1ubuntu1). The tftpd daemon does not start when the computer
starts up, even though the tftpd-hpa job starts. As far as I can tell,
the problem is that the tftpd service is starting before the network is
properly configured. The problem seemed to go away when I changed the
line

start on runlevel [2345]

in /etc/init/tftpd-hpa.conf to

start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE!=lo)

However, I am not an expert with Upstart and this may not necessarily be
the best way to fix the problem.

Here is part of the system log. Note: there are 2 ethernet interfaces
on the computer, and NetworkManager is being used:

Can we please get this SRUed for Precise?

[Bug 913809] Re: smbd crashed with SIGABRT in rep_strlcpy()/null pointer in connections_fetch_entry

2012-09-18 Thread Eric Biggers
I am experiencing this problem with Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 12.04. I've
attached a tarball containing some files that may be useful in
diagnosing the problem. They are:

- log.smbd for a SAMBA server session (debug level 5)
- log.127.0.0.1 for a session with the localhost where I mounted a usershare,
listed files, then unmounted it.
- smb.conf
- usershares directory (from /var/lib/samba/usershares)

The internal error is near the end of log.127.0.0.1, when the share was
unmounted. I think the error might always happen when the connection is
closed.

Also, I was unable to reproduce the problem after deleting the
usershares and replacing them with sections in smb.conf. (The four
usershares had previously been created using Nautilus).

[Bug 913809] Re: smbd crashed with SIGABRT in rep_strlcpy()/null pointer in connections_fetch_entry

2012-09-18 Thread Eric Biggers
gdb backtrace (with debug symbols) attached.

The problem was easy to reproduce; I simply created a usershare (this
time from the command line, not Nautilus), mounted it from the localhost
from the command line, then unmounted it. The crash happens on the
unmount.
