[Bug 1070861] Re: MAAS does not support PDUs or ILOs for server reboot

2012-10-25 Thread Robie Basak
Dell iDRAC and IBM IMM should already be supported via the existing IPMI
support, right?. I thought HP iLO supports IPMI too, doesn't it? So is
SNMP to PDUs the only mechanism really missing here?

Could you please confirm exactly which manufacturers' BMCs do not work
with the existing IPMI support?

[Bug 1062538] Re: package php5-dev 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2012-10-25 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This looks like local corruption or misconfiguration, rather than a bug
in Ubuntu. You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem
here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
and then change the bug status back to New.

Without steps to reproduce the problem, there is little that can be done
on this bug. I'll mark this bug as Incomplete for now, pending someone
else confirming that it is a bug or unless someone can provide steps to
reproduce.

Please do report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1067929] Re: maas-region-celeryd connects to the wrong queue.

2012-10-25 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Marking this verification done as upstream (the bug reporter) thought
that fixing this would also fix the UI message being displayed, however,
that's related to bug #1068843. I've updated the bug description to
accordingly reflect the real issue. Doing so we can simply mark this bug
as verification-done

** Description changed:

  Symptoms

- After install, the MAAS interface displays the following warning:
+ DNS configuration is broken because of this problem.

- The region controller does not know whether any boot images have been
- imported yet. If this message does not disappear in 5 minutes, there may
- be a communication problem between the region worker process and the
- region controller. Check the region worker's logs for signs that it was
- unable to report to the MAAS API.
+ In /var/log/maas/celery-region.log search for

- Even after 5 minutes and a reload, the the error persisted.
-
- DNS configuration is also broken because of this problem.

[Bug 1062802] Re: package nis 3.17-32ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-10-25 Thread Robie Basak
I tried sudo apt-get install nis nfs-common on a 12.04 cloud instance
and got a hang on Setting up nis (3.17-32ubuntu4.1) This looked
like it was hung on a start ypbind command. Killing that gives me
similar results.

However, I don't have a functional nis server, so perhaps this is
expected?

So I'm not sure I can confirm this bug right now, but I'll leave these
notes here in case someone else can look at it.

Tested the fix with all supported Ubuntu relesaes. Works fine with the ubuntu

For the ubuntu-cloud template, quantal works but precise is still lacking /dev
entries, though as mentioned, it'll be fixed with the next build so it's all
good on lxc's side.

[Bug 1067877] Re: package mysql-server-5.5 5.5.24-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-10-25 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

Specifically, the mysql configuration file /etc/mysql/my.cnf is missing
on your system.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
and then change the bug status back to New.

any errors. upstart reports a new pid, and /var/log/auth.log gives me

[Bug 1052972] Re: lxc-debian cannot create a testing release container

2012-10-25 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Enrique, or anyone else affected,

Accepted lxc into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/0.7.5-3ubuntu64 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1071011] Re: specific device not available in client (passthrough) with high cpu load on host, none in client

2012-10-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. Would it be possible for you to test
this with the upstream qemu?

Did this used to work consistently with older versions of qemu (say in
precise)?

Is there any pattern - for instance a full shutdown followed by power-on
of the host results in the sound card being usable in the guest, while a
reboot results in the sound card not being usable in the guest?

[Bug 1066084] Re: Permissions mangled when creating rootfs from cloud images

2012-10-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Verification done in quantal.

** Tags removed: verification-needed
** Tags added: verification-done

** Tags removed: verification-done
** Tags added: verification-done-quantal verification-needed-precise

** Description changed:

  ==
  1. Impact: cloud image creations can fail. This causes juju with local
provider to fail.
  2. Development fix: use --numeric-owner when un-tarring ubuntu images, to
make sure that /home/ubuntu in the container is owned by the right ubuntu
userid.
  3. Stable fix: same as the development fix
  4. Test case:
- 1. add an ubuntu user if one does not yet exist on the host - make sure
it is not uid 1000
- 2. lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n c1
- 3. check /home/ubuntu in the container - it will be owned by the ubuntu
userid on the host.
- Additionally, when starting c1, you will be unable to log in as user
ubuntu.
+  1. add an ubuntu user if one does not yet exist on the host - make sure it
is not uid 1000
+  2. lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n c1 -- -r precise
+  3. check /home/ubuntu in the container - it will be owned by the ubuntu
userid on the host.
+  Additionally, when starting c1, you will be unable to log in as user ubuntu.
  5. Regression potential: this should introduce no regressions, as it only
makes sure that the owners of files in the container match the username-userid
mapping in the container's password file.
  ==

Permissions on the created lxc container somehow are reflecting the
  users /etc/password file:

  ubuntu@dpb-local-landscape-client-0:~$ cat /etc/passwd |grep landscape
  landscape:x:104:109::/var/lib/landscape:/bin/false
  ubuntu@dpb-local-landscape-client-0:~$ ll /etc/landscape
  total 12
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 12 17:48 ./
  drwxr-xr-x 86 root root 4096 Oct 12 17:47 ../
  -rw--- 1 999 root 164 Oct 12 17:48 client.conf
  ubuntu@dpb-local-landscape-client-0:~$ logout
  Connection to 10.0.3.143 closed.

  dpb@starbuck:dpb-local$ cat /etc/passwd |grep landscape
  landscape:x:999:999::/var/lib/landscape:/bin/false
  dpb@starbuck:dpb-local$

My hunch is where the tar happens from the mount of the downloaded image
  in lxc/templates/lxc-ubuntu-cloud

[Bug 1071011] Re: specific device not available in client (passthrough) with high cpu load on host, none in client

2012-10-25 Thread Gerben
Hi Serge,

I cannot see any pattern on boot or reboot of the host. One cold boot
(the first after not using the pci device for a long time) of the host
resulted into the device working properly on the client, but then
shutting down the client again reverted to problem described. I should
have tried a restart of the client first to keep the same kvm process.

After that I've performed several poweroff's, including disconnecting
from the mains for over a minute, but never seen the device working
properly.

An upstream install of qemu is okay if you have the proper apt commands
(and sources.list alterations if needed) available.
