[Bug 1079032] Re: execs children with SIGCHLD ignored
Marked as fixed in Debian 1.7.1.2-1. Since Ubuntu went beyond this version in Natty (1.7.1.3-1), I presume this is fixed in the current stable (and LTS release), and am marking it as such. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, then the relevant procedure is documented here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates However, I'm not sure this bug would qualify under that policy, although I am not on the SRU team and cannot make that decision. ** Changed in: socat (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to socat in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079032 Title: execs children with SIGCHLD ignored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/socat/+bug/1079032/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug is present in Debian too. So it would be best fixed in Debian, and then Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge. Would you mind filing a bug with Debian please? Even better would be to file this directly upstream, but I'm having trouble locating an appropriate place for you. The README lists http://linux.kernel.org/mailman/listinfo/autofs which appears to be dead, and the package states http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/autofs/v5/ which is available but has no patch submission information. [Bug 1072221] Re: ELinks built without lua support
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can confirm that there is no dependency on lua, and this applies to Debian as well, except for some less common architectures (http://packages.debian.org/sid/elinks). So it does look likely to me that there is some issue at build time. I tried rebuilding with after a ./autogen.sh, but this didn't seem to help. But either way, it looks likely that if this issue is valid then it affects Debian as well, so it would be best fixed in Debian, and then Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge. Would you mind verifying the Debian case, and if it is affected then could you file a bug with Debian please? ** Changed in: elinks (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to elinks in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072221 Title: ELinks built without lua support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/elinks/+bug/1072221/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1078922] [NEW] Fan runs unnecessary
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My 2½ year old laptop works with an Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T6600@2.20GHz. In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Psensor let me see an average core temperature of 43°C. Most of the time the fan is not running. When temperature goes up at 46°C the fan starts running with low speed (barely be heard), when the temperature drops to 42°C, the fan stops. In Ubuntu 12.10 core temperatures vary between 38°C and 52°C and the fan is almost running always at high speed (lots of noise). The core temperature is not constant around 43°C. I'm afraid for hardware damage and proceed with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. [Bug 1073478] Re: squid3 does not clean up pid file
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can confirm that the logrotate test fails if squid is not running, and agree that this is a bug. Unfortunately I can't find a good reference to point to in order to declare that squid should be cleaning its pid file and that it is not, although my understand has also always been that daemons should do this when they can. I've found http://stackoverflow.com/questions/688343 /reference-for-proper-handling-of-pid-file-on-unix and http://perfec.to/stalepid.html both of which indicate that it is a good thing to do, but there doesn't seem to be any definitive reference for this. I think an easier fix would be to adjust squid's logrotate configuration to test for the process before calling squid3 -k rotate. Could you try this as a workaround? In /etc/logrotate.d/squid3, replace the postrotate line: test ! -e /var/run/squid3.pid || /usr/sbin/squid3 -k rotate with: test ! -e /var/run/squid3.pid || ! kill -0 `cat /var/run/squid3.pid` 2/dev/null || /usr/sbin/squid3 -k rotate -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073478 Title: squid3 logrotate fails when squid is not running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid3/+bug/1073478/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can reproduce this, but it doesn't appear that this is a bug to me. The mysql job retries the connection until the daemon is ready, and then runs any database upgrades that are necessary. So the first one or two attempts are expected to fail, and so these logged connection errors are nothing to be concerned about. [Bug 1078922] Re: Fan runs unnecessary
Dear Phillip Susi, Indeed, I have lm-sensors installed. This was necessary in order to be able to see Pensor. After a few days I installed fancontrol. Run pwmconfig and concluded that this really is something for specialists. I have not changed the settings and fancontrol removed. [Bug 1078922] Re: Fan runs unnecessary
If you aren't using fancontrol, then there's no bug here. Without that, the fans are controlled by the hardware in response to temperature rise. You have nothing to worry about as far as damage goes as processors are intended to handle 90-100 C, so even 52 is quite cool. Often times the system bios will have options to configure how aggressive the fans should work to keep temperature down, so you may want to try changing those to keep it quieter. ** Changed in: lm-sensors (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lm-sensors in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1078922 Title: Fan runs unnecessary To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lm-sensors/+bug/1078922/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1078530] Re: upstart job fails to start under lxc
Regarding this being a bug in lxc as well, the failure to write under /sys is deliberately enforced by the apparmor policy. To reproduce: cat userdata.sh EOF #!/bin/sh ifconfig eth0 /ifconfig-eth0 EOF lxc-create -t ubuntu-cloud -n o -- --auth-key $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub --userdata ~/userdata.sh -r oneiric lxc-start -n o Now ~ubuntu/.ssh does not exist, so you cannot ssh -i .ssh/id_rsa. ubuntu@container-ip-address Note that /var/lib/cloud/seed/nocloud-net/meta-data does have the ssh keys. ** Affects: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Ben Howard (utlemming) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ben Howard (utlemming) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079320 Title: ssh key not correctly used in ubuntu-cloud oneiric containers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1079320/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
