Hi,

Just installed the daily image of 13.10 and for my web dev i need
php5-mcrypt, the current version in the repos is :

php5-mcrypt 5.4.6-0ubuntu2

whilst it installs fine, it doesn't seem to work,no matter what I've tried
I can't get it enabled.

I tried getting the latest mcrypt version from the debian sid repo but its
for php 5.5.4 and the ubuntu php version is 5.5.3

http://packages.debian.org/sid/php5-mcrypt

any idea on when you'll get a compatible version into the ubuntu repos for
13.10?

Thank

I'm also seeing this behavior. No change when installing from the

Any ideas when 1:2013.2~b2-0ubuntu3~cloud0 will hit precise?

[Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined

2013-10-01 Thread Phil Frost
The cloud archive does not yet have the fix. It's not terribly hard to
patch the packages locally, though. Summary:

apt-get install build-essential
apt-get source horizon
apt-get build-dep horizon
cd horizon-*
# apply the changes to debian/rules and debian/changelog at
#
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/148082203/horizon_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu2_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu3.diff.gz
# (although probably you will want a different version number, so
# the next ubuntu cloud archive version superceeds yours)
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
cd ..

install the resulting .debs with dpkg -i, or put them in a ppa, or
some other repo, etc.

I've confirmed that these changes fix at least the problem described
here. I'm then having a different problem: when I log in, I get
redirected back to the login page, with no error in the browser or
apache's error.log that I can find. However, that is probably more
likely something I did wrong upgrading from grizzly to havanah, or a
separate issue.

@Phil Frost: If you are now using Django 1.5, make sure ALLOWED_HOSTS is
set correctly in your local_settings.py.

[Bug 1233752] [NEW] openstack-dashboard should not write to /etc/openstack-dashboard

2013-10-01 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

The horizon codebase contains code which generates and stores a secret
key on disk if one is not supplied in local_settings.py.

This needs to not be /etc/openstack-dashboard/secret_key - /var/lib
/openstack-dashboard should be more appriopriate with write permissions
for www-data.

Right now the dashboard just errors out due to lack to write permissions
to /etc/openstack-dashboard.

Many thanks for the fast reply.

[Bug 1233831] [NEW] maas doesn't return zookeeper instances for newly provision environment

2013-10-01 Thread Peter Petrakis
Public bug reported:

The problem:
I can clearly see that a machine is allocated in response to the bootstrap
request and that the
same machine is destroyed when the env is trashed, yet, I can't get a handle on
the environment.

Odd thing is this problem cropped up all of a sudden. I've been provisioning
via juju
maybe 5-6 times a day due to the hardware speed over the last week and it just
stops working.
I've tried restart the processes, upgrading to latest maas, and rebooting. It
just stays in this
state. I can't use it for anything.

[Bug 1233698] Re: ephemeral disk formating fails on Windows Azure

2013-10-01 Thread Ben Howard
Tangential to the issue at hand, but I added a regression check to make
sure that the appropriate mount is mount in the Windows Azure test
suite.

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2013-10-01 Thread Numérigraphe
I just did some more testing on the second cluster and I met no problem
at all.

With your package installed, I did the drbd down/apply-al procedure and
downgraded to kernel 3.2. After fixing the config syntax, the resources came
back cleanly without a full-sync. The drbd utils just worked.
At that point I noticed that DRBD 8.3.11 connects normally with the other node
still using DRBD 8.4.2. That's just great!

I upgraded again to kernel 3.8 and reverted the config files: the utils
worked fine and the resources connected without problem.

So I'd say this is just fine. Thanks again.

[Bug 1233831] Re: maas doesn't return zookeeper instances for newly provision environment

2013-10-01 Thread Gavin Panella
This looks like Juju is not writing the provider-state file correctly.
You're using PyJuju. Have you tried using juju-core instead? That might
help us isolate the problem to either Juju or MAAS.

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2013-10-01 Thread Numérigraphe
As to the problem I met on the other cluster, kern.log has no trace of a DRBD
error, so I'm pretty confident it was due to a race condition in my custom
startup plumbing.

2013-10-01 Thread Seth Arnold
I think this hasn't been addressed in part because it didn't get a CVE
number: http://openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2013/07/12/4

Since the service appears to be restarting without qualm, I can see why
it didn't get a CVE, but this does seem less than awesome.

Mancha made a lot of patches for services when the crypt() change
happened, here's an email from him with upstream patch and two
backported patches: http://openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2013/07/12/3

Thanks. Also note the use of crypt() in a multithreaded application.
Must be crypt_r().
