Allowing ext4 mount by default in lxc would require a kernel ('linux'
package) or security team task to vet the ext4 superblock parser etc in
the kernel.
We can however ship a (optional, non-default) apparmor policy allowing
it to make that easier.

In the interest of having all the info ccontained in this bug, below is
what I had written in the ask-ubuntu response.
You can allow your lxc container to do mounts of ext2, ext3, or ext4
filesystems in one of 2 ways. The simplist is to just add the following
to the lxc config (/var/lib/lxc/$NAME/
Public bug reported:
by default lxc containers do not allow mounting ext4 filesystems.
during 'maas-import-ephemerals', maas uses mount to mount an ext4

Is this new to this version?
Can you reproduce it with either saucy's kvm, or with the previous

If you set NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=no (eg. from a preseed late_command),
then does this fix the issue?
Sounds to me that we either need to have MAAS do that, or consult with
Debian about the intention of this setting and its interaction with DHCP
in the default case to see if it's a bug or it's inten

1) press "ctrl-alt-2" to switch to the qemu console.

Expected outcome: Switch to tty1 in the VM.
Actual outcome: No switch to tty1 in the VM. and qemu

If that was addressed at me, I don't think the VMWare Workstation module
would conflict, since open-vm-tools-dkms is designed for use in guest OSes.
In any case,
Julian: I disagree that this is dhclient's fault. The lease file clearly
shows the NTP servers were received and the contents of
/var/lib/ntpdate/default.dhcp are correctly set to the 3 NTP servers,
showing the dhclient exit hook worked too. At this point it is up to
the ntpclient to use these ser

It was whatever was available in July. I installed two XUbuntu 12.04.?
LTS systems under VirtualBbx and confirmed then that it worked before
making the bug report. I also updated both virtual systems through 12.10
and 13.04. As I recall, the problem began when the client system was
updated to 13.04
A quick additional thought...I may have started with the original
release of 12.04 LTS from a disk I made in April 2012 and not made any
updates before I did the VirtualBox experiment. I may try the same thing
again today if I have time.
