[Bug 1089105] Re: [Lenovo V480c Notebook]: Trackpad doesn't work after closing and opening the lid

2014-01-29 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Verified with Trusty dailylive image (kernel 3.13.0-5) on 201204-10924

Trackpad works fine after closing and opening the lid.
Left/right click, drag, two-finger scroll and multitouch all works fine.

Steps:
1. Install dailylive image and boot to desktop
2. Suspend the system by closing the lid.
3. Wait for approx. 5 min.
4. Open the lid, check if the trackpad works.

Expected results:
* Touchpad should work after resumed from suspend.

Actual result:
* It works as expected.

[Bug 1274072] [NEW] No debconf option to set up DNS forwarding

2014-01-29 Thread Dan Poler
Public bug reported:

When installing MAAS, it of course acts as the DNS server for systems
under its control. However, it does not configure a DNS forwarder by
default, so when systems under its control ask for addresses about which
it does not know, it answers not found rather than forwarding the
requests on to a DNS server that might know. This is fixed by setting
forwarders in /etc/bind/named.conf.options. MAAS should be able to
accept this setting as a debconf option as it is installed so that it
can gracefully handle this situation.

[Bug 1274090] [NEW] apache2-bin declares httpd, but does not provide webserver

2014-01-29 Thread Martin Rudat
Public bug reported:

apache2-bin declares that it provides httpd and httpd-cgi, but the
package description itself says that to actually get a running web-
server, you need to instead install apache2, or perform manual action on
your own.

I had apache2 automatically pulled in via a dependency from munin on
httpd in 13.04, but in 13.10 most of apache was automatically removed as
no longer being required during the release upgrade process.

I suspect that, to provide a running web-service upon package
installation, the apache2 package should provide httpd, rather than
apache2-bin.

[Bug 1274122] Re: php5 crashes on a site

2014-01-29 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

For a developer make progress on this bug, we need a minimal test case
that causes a crash, including configuration steps on a freshly
installed Ubuntu system. Alternatively, references to the same bug
elsewhere might help. If you can provide any of this, then please do so
and change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1272115] Re: [SRU] cloud-init SmartOS datasource provider is not compliant to datadictionary

2014-01-29 Thread Ben Howard
** Description changed:

+ [IMPACT]
+ Cloud-init provisioning on SmartOS is not compliant per the DataDictionary
published on 25 September. The result is that cloud-init provisioned Ubuntu on
SmartOS hosts will not behave as user expect. This SRU makes cloud-init's
SmartOS datasource compliant on the DataDictionary specification.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Install nodejs
+ 2. Install the CLI tool, sudo npm install smartdc -g
+ 3. Launch instance on SmartOS based cloud, with metadata tag of
cloud-init:user-data set with cloud-init user-data.
+ 4. Install SRU's on instance
+ 5. Run:
+* rm -rf /var/lib/cloud
+* [12.04] cloud-init-cfg init
+* [13.10] cloud-init --debug init

+
+ [ORIGINAL REPORT]
+
  The SmartOS provider is not compliant to the datadictionary [1] due to a
  change in the definition.

  Specifically:
  1. the datasource conflates user-data for the user and cloud-init. cloud-init
should use namespaced user-data
  2. the datasource should run user-scripts each boot
  3. user-scripts should be assumed to be executable with bash unless file
magic is present
  4. the datacenter name is now scoped to be sdc:datacenter

  In order to provide for proper operation on SmartOS, these definiciency
  need to be addressed.

[Bug 1274254] [NEW] Stopping openvpn is unreliable (Ubuntu specific behaviour)

2014-01-29 Thread Simon Déziel
Public bug reported:

In certain conditions, stopping OpenVPN doesn't work and the pid removed
while the process is left behind. I noticed this when trying to stop a
newly started connection that fails to establish and keeps dialling.

This problem is Ubuntu specific as in Ubuntu, the init script does this:

 stop_vpn () {
   kill `cat $PIDFILE` || true
   rm -f $PIDFILE
   [ $OMIT_SENDSIGS -ne 1 ] || rm -f /run/sendsigs.omit.d/openvpn.$NAME.pid
   rm -f /var/run/openvpn.$NAME.status 2 /dev/null
   log_end_msg 0
 }

While in Debian it uses start-stop-daemon that eventually sends a KILL
signal to the unresponsive openvpn pid:

 stop_vpn () {
   start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --oknodo \
   --pidfile $PIDFILE --exec $DAEMON --retry 5
   if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
 rm -f $PIDFILE
 [ $OMIT_SENDSIGS -ne 1 ] || rm -f /run/sendsigs.omit.d/openvpn.$NAME.pid
 rm -f /run/openvpn/$NAME.status 2 /dev/null
   fi
 }

This is a regression from the previous Ubuntu release, 13.10, and the
