The issue came and went multiple times. I was able to avoid it for
several months by running with everything current under funtoo with a
3.10 kernel. When an update broke it again (around Dec 2013), I switched
back to 12.04 in the form of Elementary OS Luna. Everything has been
working fine since
Oh yes. This is an /etc/samba/smb.conf file mistake. I tried what @Cliff
Carson suggested and it worked like it should.

This is first and foremost a QEMU or linux bug (not sure which), it
should really update its internal time after suspend. But I suppose ntp
could also listen to resume events (perhaps through pm-utils' /usr/lib
/pm-utils/sleep.d/ scripts); although this should already be covered by
its existing

Suspend/Resume hangs and fails -
I was using Nvidia graphics card and the Nouveau display driver, this seemed to
cause the problem.
I moved to a proprietary Nvidia driver, rebooted and suspend now works
fine.
So I would suggest checking what driver you are using and changing to
the proprietary driver available for your system.
I have Postfix 2.9.6 running on Ubuntu 12.04 and am having this problem.
Near as I can tell, main.cf and master.cf are configured as required.

This isn't a bug. It's a new feature in 2.9 that warns if a parameter
is unused. What it means is that there is a typo in either main.cf or
master.cf.
