[Bug 1315026] Re: [Dell Inc. XPS M1330][14.04 Regression] suspend/resume failure

2014-05-25 Thread Ian Kay
Can confirm similar behaviour on my XPS M1330 with 14.04. If I suspend
by closing the lid, when I open again, I have no keyboard response.

[Bug 1322933] [NEW] smbd and nmbd doesn't restart via service samba restart

2014-05-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Linux Mint 17 'Quiana' Cinnamon 64-bit

On terminal as root:
# service samba restart
# echo $?
1

Using service samba retart doesn't restart smbd and nmbd.
Actually start, stop, restart and force-reload don't work.
Only reload and status options work.

service samba restart should retart smbd and nmbd.
# service smbd restart service nmbd restart
smbd stop/waiting
smbd start/running, process 5300
nmbd stop/waiting
nmbd start/running, process 5317
# echo $?

Tested with service samba restart and /etc/init.d/samba restart.
It happened both in my desktop and in a Virtualbox VM.

[Bug 1322892] Re: SSH ist unable to negotiate a key exchange method after latest update when curve25519 is required

2014-05-25 Thread Colin Watson
We needed to apply a fix to curve25519-sha256 key exchange supplied by
upstream, but that involved disabling that key exchange method for
unpatched 6.6 and earlier versions. OpenSSH 6.7 will fix this when it's
released, but in the meantime I suggest applying the same patch to your
homebrew client (and perhaps getting the package maintainer to do so as
well; I'm not familiar with how homebrew works).

In my tests on Ubuntu 14.04, the LXC dnsmasq process is restarted with:

only when all guest containers are stopped. If one or more containers
are running, the dnsmasq process is left running with its old settings
when lxc-net is restarted.

[Bug 1322441] [NEW] QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 14.04, all updates done as of 23/5/2014
Kernel : Linux 3.13.0-24-generic
Qemu : 1.7.1 and 2.0.0 tested
Tested using both Xeon 5620 and 5520 processors, 48GB RAM.

Anywhere from 20 minutes for 3+ hours after booting Windows guests become
unstable. Guest appear to freeze intermittently (VNC console unresponsive,
network pings dropped to guest, frozen IO) for 20-60 seconds at a time which
repeats constantly every few minutes and guests do not recover unless QEMU is
killed and the guest is started again. Whilst the guest is frozen CPU usage of
the QEMU process jumps to 100-150%.

Re: [Bug 1043588] Re: sudo restart lxc-net does not kill/restart dnsmasq

2014-05-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 703800 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/703800

This happens because 'restart service' does not cause service's post-stop
to be executed. Only it's pre-stop is executed.

Note that if you want to stop the dnsmasq, you can work around this by
doing

stop lxc-net; start lxc-net

The pre-start also would not be executed on a restart, so just changing
the post-stop would not suffice. We'd have to change the pre-start to
'script'.

I'm not sure whether there is any downside to doing so.

[Bug 1322441] Re: QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Matthew Anderson
Not this exact problem but one with similar symptoms. From kernel 3.5
onwards there was a problem with guests not receiving RTC ticks which
was reported here - http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-
devel/2013-02/msg03827.html

The 3.2 kernel from 12.04.1 never had any issues but the 3.5 kernel from
12.04.2 onwards hit the RTC bug whoch was fixed in later releases of
QEMU.

[Bug 1322441] Re: QEMU Windows guest unstable after random amount of time

2014-05-25 Thread Matthew Anderson
Based on the fact that flush_tlb_page() appears to be taking up most of
the CPU time when QEMU is 'frozen' I started playing with memory
settings. Disabling automatic NUMA balancing appears to have solved the
problem. echo 0 /proc/sys/kernel/numa_balancing

The guest has been running 4+ hours now without an issue. I currently
have KSM and transparent huge pages enabled.
